MPT with Krzr k1m

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have installed MPT and it detects my phone and all seems good. However on the right pane I only have the options to Sync, Phone book, Calendar and internet connection. There should be more, such as, multimedia and text... Why are these not here and how might i get them there?

Thanks -

btw - I looked for a thread on this and could not find it so if it has already been posted please link me to the thread ... Thanks in advance!

Yet you completely missed the thread about contacting the manufacturer if you have MPT problems? They wrote the software, they'd know what the issue is better than a bunch of people guessing...

Actually, I second going to the BVRP forums. If you buy a car and the tire falls off as you drive out of the dealership, are you going to bug at the tire manufacturer, or go back to the source of the car, the dealership? I know it's a bad analogy, but seriously, what if no one on HoFo has had your same problem, but BVRP has in their software testing. Wouldn't you feel dumb knowing that they had a fix for your problem, but you didn't get it because you didn't look?

You don't even have to sign up to post on the BVRP forums, just make up a username when you make a post.

You have a Verizon Phone, the multimedia feature will not show up. Check Mark Venture's site for a work around with a little bit of programing. Then you chose k1mm.

By default, Verizon turns off Multimedia feature on K1m. To turn it on, you would need these 2 tools:

1. Motorola PST
2. Advanced P2K Seem Edit

then you mod the following bits as:

2827 Bytes 0000 offset 0006 all bits were off unchecked -> check bits 0, 2, 3, 6 --> this will change model K1m to K1mm (Multimedia on

However, although the Multimedia feature on the Motorola Phone tool has been turned on, but you may find out you cannot write any ringtone or image files to the ringtone share folder because of the default attribute is read-only.
Hence it will appear to you as a dummy tool.

To write ringtone or images to your K1m phone, you would need to:

1. run Motorola Software Update at the background to connect to your phone
2. run P2KCommander (3.2.2 works fine for me)
3. then access to the share audio or ringtone folder by click on the P2K Mobile Phone to navigate the ringtone folder.
3. you can then start copy or transfer file from your PC to phone now.
4. Change permission to 0005 by click on the Attributes

Actually all that Edit does is change the ID string... it does NOT enable the feature on the phone which Verizon disables...

that would be Seem 2742, offset 6A bit 0....

Well for some reason i cant get the p2k advanced seem edit to run. When i run it it says file not found and then i believe it says no access to drive . I am an admin on the computer. So i tried pkseem and when i did it says connected so i hit load from phone and the screen is blank. I am a tad confused because i know i enabled usb transfers on this phone using a seem editor on my laptop when i first purchased the phone. I will see if i cant find a tutorial or guide out there that goes into more detail. I hate diving into edits and hacks that i dont fully understand because i hate that feeling of helplessness when things go bad and you are left with a brick.

Thanks for all your help!!

PS .. Mark i know you said that you are busy and dont have time to write the stuff for the K1M, however your docs are extremely helpful and well written. Could you point me to another source?

1. Where did you get the P2KSeem? if it was from my pages.. make sure you UNZIPed all files contained in the zip into the same folder, then ran it from that folder..

2. What are you filling in for Seem, Bytes (h) and Record number... before you click Load From Phone?

3. Remember.. Using MPT with the VERIZON K1M has been reported to be relatively unsuccessful for Ringtones/Pictures even after seem edits...

I re-downloaded it from your page and now the program works. First i typed 2742 in the seem and hit load from phone and under Byte (h) 007a appears. I then go to the hex above and found 0075, 003b, 0038 and 0006 which were areas i wanted to edit. Made the changes and hit save to phone. Everything seemed to go well, however after rebooting the phone, no changes seem to have been made.

seem - 2742, Bytes (h) 007a is what is there, and record number is 0001

This is what i have read and really at this point i am just using either verizon's pc version of vcast/widnows media player or pk commander to transfer files, music and pics to the phone. I was more interested in enabling features that were disabled by verizon and perhaps being able to add themes to the phone.

One last thing i was able to "enable" the features in MPT using
"Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes (h) 22, Offset 0006, "check the boxes" for bits 0-2-3-6" off your website.. So that seem edit i did see a result the above mentioned ones i did not.

Thanks -

I follow the exactly steps as you did. Everything happens. I had my ring tone in the Verizon phone and I changed them attribute to "0005". I can play it in the ringtone list on the phone. But when I set the active ringtone through the phone menu, it does NOT take it at all.

The Verizon K1m just don't take the rington I loaded.

Any suggestion? thx
