My Tilt is now unlocked

I contacted ATT and they sent me my unlock code in less than 48 hours. Put a T-Mob card in and i am all set

What number did you call?

Posted by: RF9

I emailed CS and requested the code. I just find it's more convenient.
It takes longer to do it this way than by calling though. My unlock code should be on the way in a few days. I've unlocked other phones this way.

Sweet! Good to hear someone actually unlocked it with the code with no issues. They were sending the wrong instructions with the the Treo 750 code that would lock the device permanently if you followed them.

I emailed as well. didn't feel like dealing with trying to explain what i wanted to the CSR

Please provide me the email address and what information you gave in the email, I am new to ATT. Thanks

Log in to your account online, then click contact us, it automatically generates an email. you will have to send them your imei number. sometimes they ask you for a copy of the receipt to prove you paid full price.

someone posted this phone number for ATT in the other forum and said it workd for them to get their phone unlocked: 1-(916)-843-4685

I've never had to provide a receipt. I've never paid full price, I always get it on upgrade discounts.

In my message I said exactly this:
"May I please have the SIM Subsidy unlock code for this device so I may use another carrier's Pre-paid SIM in the phone when I travel?"

The IMEI number is: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The line this is used on is: XXX-XXX-XXX

The model is an AT&T Tilt
Thank you very much for your time."

(of course the phone number is probably not necessary as it's included from the auto generated email)

The response:
"I have submitted a request for the release of the subsidy unlock code for your wireless phone. Normally, this request takes five to seven business days for this request to be sent to you. At that time, you will receive an email with the code and the instructions on how to unlock your phone."

Sometimes it takes a full week. Sometimes less. Either way consider this the slow low-hassle method and the phone number the faster method. I'm in no rush whatsoever and it's more convenient for me to send the email at 11pm than to call during the day.

i got mine right over the phone when i called the 916 number

i had to tell them a sob story about how i was unhappy with their roaming service (true) and how i want the tilt as a backup only (false).

at least now i know its possible to get the code over the phone.

btw i had called the night before and asked for the code. i was promissed an email by the end of the week. we'll see what the email will say. obviously i no longer need the e-mail.

CMM.

I got the unlock code. It only took 1 day using the email method.
Popped a T-Mobile Pre-Paid sim in, entered the unlock code, and it's unlocked!
Not that I really need it to be, but it's nice to know it's unlocked for that evenuality.

I just called the 916 number and got the unlock code while I was on the phone. Thanks for the info!

I called the (916) number and was told that I needed to add International Roaming to my account for no additional monthly charge.

The agent tried to add it and said that he had a complication and I need to call back when IPC (International Provisioning Center) is open.

He said I should not have a problem with them, but we will see.

Posted by: URPREY

They had to add that onto mine as well, but I got my unlock code no problem.

Posted by: chix

Called back tonight and spoke with IPC who added the roaming feature.

Then they transferred me back to IWC to get the unlock code.

I would be glad to share the code, but I am guessing that it is unique to each IMEI?

So now that I have my T-Mobile SIM in the TILT and have no prob making voice calls.......

Is there any way of changing the data settings without completely overriding the AT&T settings and having to change the settings each time I switch SIMS?

Better yet, any thoughts on whether Blackberry Connect would work with the T-Mobile SIM?

I tried installing BB Connect on my MDA, but it failed even though it is WM 6.

set up a new network profile in connection settings with the appropriate tmobile settings. you will have to switch the profiles manually when you switch sims though.
