Please help. A few questions about HTC X7500 advantage

Hey people. Can anyone answer any of these questions ?

1- I installed a linksys wireless router onto my pc. I configured it ok. I added the connection to my phone. My X7500 sees the wifi but won't use it (and never asked me anything about confirming a password, which I put into the router). It says available but when I open the internet it uses my GPRS. How do I tell the phone to use the wifi connection instead of the slower gprs? I think the only person in my building not using my wifi connection is me !!

2- My live messenger shows all of my contacts as "offline". Their really online and can message me and I can answer them provided they IM me first. I never thought that a WINDOWS mobile phone would have more trouble that a symbian phone to run a lousy msn. Any thoughts ?

3- How do you install programs via PC ? I was able to install something directly from the phones internet to the phone but what do I use to install a prg from pc to phone ?

I got the wifi to work but how do i know if the phone is using wifi or edge ? Their both slower than hell.
