Thanks for viewing,
I have the AT&T 8525 (450 w/rollover, unlimited data) and everything works fine except whenever I bring up iGuidance navigation connected to my Holux GPSlim 236 via bluetooth com port 2. IF there is an active data session, it either totally crashes the phone, or it runs too slow to be of any use (example, it pauses 30 seconds between each word of a voice guidance prompt....in...5...hundred...(missed turn)...feet...turn...left.)
IF there is no active data session, it seems to run fine. Of couse, God help you if the phone rings while using iGuidance.
I am running iGuidance 3.0 (2007?) and I have actually reverted back to the previous version hoping for an improvement, but not receiving any.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance,
(Lost) Mike

My only problem with iGuidance, not really a biggie or anything, is that it TOTALLY killed my 8525 when trying to uninstall. I dont know if it was corrupted dvd or iGuidance itself. I ended up selling the broken phone on ebay for parts. What really sucks is that I put in a new LCD w/ touchscreen just weeks before it died. And when I mean dead, there was no way to revive it.
Here's my "please help" post: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...light=8525+dead
Good luck with that, btw, I think v4 is the latest (2007).

Wow, that really sucks. I can't see how software can brick a phone, but it wouldn't surprise me. Nothing surprises me anymore. I would like to think it just happened to die right at the exact moment you were fiddling with the software.
This phone seems to be somewhat unstable to me. Perhaps I am doing something wrong with it, or it needs a firmware flash or overclocking or something.
I don't think I am trying to do too much with it. The only software installed on the phone is: GSPlayer, iGuidance, PTT Button remap, AVCRP patch for GSPlayer, and the Voice dial patch which lets you save your voice tags to a file. I have run total commander to do registry edits. Edits done have been: remove annoying 3G animation on bootup, increased a2dp audio quality and activated real stereo, disabled call volume beeps, 3G icon changes to H for HSDPA network, enable power management for unused wireless protocols.
I have seen 8525's with all kinds of customization to the point I don't recognize the OS anymore, making VoIP calls, and all kinds of stuff, and I don't hear any complaints. I have had this thing for 3 months now, and I still end up rebooting it 10 times a day and reload it about once a month.
