Ok I am sure it is here somewhere but I got sick of searching. What are the correct settings for the PDA unlimited plan. I drop my 3g/edge connection alot. I am on the Media net plan not running a proxy. Please help.

Anyone have an answer for this?

Go to connections
Go to manage existing connections
Click New
Enter a name, ISP Connection (or whatever)
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access Point Name: isp.cingular
User Name: isp1@cingulargprs.com
Password: CINGULAR1 (case sensitive)
Advanced: User server-assigned IP address (checked)
Use IP header compression(unchecked)
Click Finish

Thats it. Enjoy!

try wap.cingular as the APN and WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM as username

next time do a search (hofo, google) as this has been answered a million times and it's not that hard to find

PDA Personal Plans do NOT have access to wap.cingular as far as I know.
Only the PDA Unlimited, enterprise (I think) and tethered. But the personal max is wap.cingular only.

wap.cingular is still a full internet connection and should be considered your primary APN for connecting for all plans. isp.cingular is only necessary if you're trying to do VPN or you have some other special purpose thing that seems to be incompatible with wap.cingular.

The only difference. wap.cingular=NAT, isp.cingular is not NAT (public IP address.)

OP said that he is on a Media Net plan and I don't think they can access isp.cingular APN. Apart from that, isn't the username for isp.cingular apn ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM and not isp1@cingulargprs.com as TheFuzz states?

Ah, for some reason I incorrectly read "I am NOT on the media net plan" vs. what he actually said. LOL

And you're right, it's ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM

For the media max plan (actually for ALL data plans) it's
APN: wap.cingular
User: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
PW: CINGULAR1

In my original post I said I was on the PDA Unlimited plan. Not the media net one. I use the phone for direct push email so was told had to be on the PDA plan.

So you meant Media Net connection, not "plan"?

Actually both will work. These settings go back to the early days of the 8525, and these are two different versions, ISP1 and ISP. But, both should work. I use ISP1@CINGULARGPRS.COM

I'm not tech savvy enough to know if there is any difference, but, when we had server IP problems on the 8525, we would switch between ISP and ISP1.

There is also a userid that can be used with isp.cingular that's ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM (same password CINGULAR1)
This one appearently compresses your images for faster downloads (like the proxy does.)
I had never heard of ISP1 though.
