From newegg.com

Posted by: rolman

I am still within my 30 day window, this make me want to cancel/return my tilt and eat the $36 activation charge.

Posted by: chix

I called CS and brought this price up.

They gave me a $100 instant service credit for the inconvenience and not to have to go through the hassle of returning/repurchasing through New Egg.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I thought the $10 was a fair offer since I would still get the $50 rebate and I do not know the reputation of New Egg.

Posted by: kvandivo

I'm curious..

Would there be any chance of contacting the local corporate store which supports us premeir customers and getting them to pricematch newegg's price? That way I wouldn't have to pay the activation fee and would automatically get the reduced monthly price, etc..

Chix....I would love to know how you did this! I tried to do the same with no luck. . Here's what happened:

I call CS and ask about a rebate or price match. After being on hold a while, the person comes back and tells me since it's not AT&T online, they can't do anything for me and that I'll have to return the phone. I then call the AT&T store I bought the tilt from. They tell me they can't help me but to call Customer service at a different number. My salesman did say if they give me problems to call him back and get him involved. So I call Customer Service at this new number. She tells me she can't help me and that I have to go right back to my salesman. I do this, he talks to his manager, and comes back and tells me there is absolutly nothing they can do. I have to return the phone.

How in the world did you get them to give you that credit???

Posted by: blessd24

Surely this company is bad to deal with, they most always have you jump through all kinds of hoops for these deals.

Posted by: kvandivo

Well, I just bit the bullet and went for it. I checked with the local corporate store and they said it wouldn't be a problem to get the activation fee waived or refunded. Now I get to wait 3 business days. *twiddle twiddle*

NewEgg is a great company.

I think Buy.com has the same deal.

I simply was honest. Nothing special....

My existing contract with AT&T comes up on the 22nd. Can I get the $149 deal?

Posted by: TerraPhantm

Newegg is a great company, I've bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of things from them, and they've always given me great service. In the event that they screwed something up, they always did more than enough to compensate for that error.

Posted by: ZOMGuy

I'd have to say that Newegg is one of the most reputable e-companies out there.

Posted by: whitneybroach

A very quick scan of the content suggests its possible to order an "incorrect" (from ATT's perspective) -- less expensive -- data plan for the Tilt. For example, Smartphone with XpressMail seems selectable. To listen to the ATT CS reps or the retail storefront people, 19.99/mo is just not enough for a Tilt owner to pay.

Newegg's Eary Cancellation policy does not enable a downgrade of service within the first 181 days.

Aside from that, what am I missing?

TIA,

Posted by: AliLaPointe

Looks like im going to have to return my tilt. This is 250 less than I paid. Anyone know if I can keep my current number and not incur any fees from Newegg?

I did the newegg deal. But I didn't put any data in there. I will sign up for media max online with att.

If you do it, just sign up for the lowest package possible. You can always upgrade with no charges but downgrades or eliminating services will incur the 250 charge.

Posted by: KBC88

That's what im going to do as well. I will sign up through newegg (i have dealt with this side MANY MANY times and it is one of the best e-buy online stores out there if not the best) get the lowest possible plan, then change it through ATT.

Me being a current family plan which expires on the 31st of October (a little over a week), the only way to get this is through new activation. So my question is, can I upgrade the cheap plan i get through newegg to a higher, more expensive family plan, keeping my current phone numbers?

Regards,
-K-

Posted by: argoldst

i asked that too (wanted a family plan) but was told I could not. However, you are only bound to newegg for 6 months so I plan on just doing a family plan after the 6 months are up.

If you find a different way around it, please advise.

Also, i know att does not insure pda phones. Is the insurance offered through newegg valid or is it a mistake (att insurance for none pda phones)?

Wait, so you mean to tell me that even if you call ATT you cant change it to an upgraded plan? I had called customer service before and they told me that I should be able to upgrade it to a higher plan as long as i dont downgrade. I also ended up calling ATT and they also say that I am able to upgrade as well (but i didnt tell them about newegg.) Is there somewhere on the newegg website that says that you have to stick to the plan you choose for 6 months? If so, that's pretty bs as you're not planned with newegg, you're planned with ATT, and its also an upgrade meaning theyll get more money off of you anyways.

Regards,
-K-

EDIT: so i read the terms and agreements, and it seems as though YOU CAN change ur plan as long as it is NOT a downgrade from the plan you purchase from newegg. My own problem is, keeping my same number i have right now because I am a business man and i cant afford to lose my number and all my contacts i have on it.

Posted by: calypsocowboy

So would it be possible to stack the two 50$ rebates on top of this? I'm guessing not.

Posted by: KBC88

Nah, dont we all wish lol. Two things, 1) the personal pda plan isnt offered on this plan on newegg. 2) This price is a totally different type of promotion set by the new partnership between at&t and newegg.

Posted by: IndyMCSE

Please forgive me if I missed it, but would I be able to get this deal by adding this as a new line on my current family plan? If so, I could keep my current phone # by putting my current SIM in the Tilt. After the six month requirement, I could remove the "extra" number then, correct?

Posted by: KBC88

That's one of the main concerns as well. It's better to call the reps to see what they have to say, then wait till someone gives it a try. As for now, its probably best to back out until more and more bolder people dive for this offer along with its terms and conditions.

Regards,
-K-

Posted by: slappysquirrel

i wish i could go for this deal. i'm currently on my girlfriend's family plan. while i'm able to upgrade to the tilt with at&t at the end of this month, the contract i'm under extends for another 6 months.... i guess i'll have to pay a lot more than $149

Terms And Conditions

* If you purchase a new wireless communication service plan from AT&T (which is not a substitute for an existing service plan you have with AT&T) through Newegg.com, and purchase a new wireless communication device, such as a cell phone, from Newegg.com, as part of the same order, the price for the device will include a discount of $250.00 (the "Equipment Discount"). YOU MUST REIMBURSE NEWEGG.COM THE AMOUNT OF THE EQUIPMENT DISCOUNT, IF YOU DO NOT MAINTAIN THE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SERVICE PLAN PURCHASED AS PART OF THE ORDER IN GOOD STANDING FOR A MINIMUM OF 181 DAYS AFTER ACTIVATION. The wireless communication service plan will be considered "not to be in good standing" if:

You fail to pay the balance due by the payment due date in any month.

You cancel the service.

You change the service plan to a different service plan with a lower monthly service rate.

You transfer the equipment to another service plan.

You transfer any phone number associated with the service plan to another service plan.

You use the service plan purchased as part of the same order to replace an existing service plan you have with the same company.

You authorize Newegg.com to initiate a charge to the credit card or other payment method you used to purchase the Equipment in the amount of $250.00, the Equipment Discount, if it is due.

Please contact one of our CS agents if you've any questions. (800)390-1119

You use the service plan purchased as part of the same order to replace an existing service plan you have with the same company.

Wonder if this means I cannot return the tilt I just purchased from AT&T and close the account to get this Newegg promotion?????

Posted by: elee888

Existing Customers...?

Where on the newegg website can you specify that that this is an upgrade, not new account? I've been out of my contract for over a year already. Also, if I don't like this phone, can I sell the phone to someone else and buy an iPhone with an iPhone data plan? Basically swap out the sims?

Thanks.

Posted by: whitneybroach

I don't see a place on the Newegg site where that can be done -- but I think it can work for existing customers who are month-to-month or prepaid, which from ATT accounting's perspective probably look similar. If I were ATT, I'd gladly move customers from no-commitment prepaid or m2m to 2-year plans. ATT must transfer a number to another carrier if ordered, so why by unwilling to transfer a number internally to sign a 2-year contract with someone whose creditworthiness is already known but who is not currently under contract?

As Bob Allen, an ex-ATT CEO used to say, this is a no-brainer.

I'm an ATT TDMA-legacy customer who's been month-to-month for years. The Newegg rep with whom I spoke today said that he called ATT to work out a procedure. I'm to place the order on the Newegg site and then email the rep with the order info. The rep is to call ATT to complete the credit check, then AT&T is to move my current number to GSM voice service. After activation I'll surf to ATT to add the right data service. (That'll probably be BES in my case, to satisfy my employer's IT department. Good luck in your own situation.) So the account will get flagged as having a monster pda device, but at least I get that device at a bargain price.

I'll share what I learn as soon as it happens. (NOT YET. This needs to work first and I'm a test subject. )

Best,

I actually have been calling for the past few days since i found out about this newegg promo offer. I'm pretty clear on it as I have made sure with them probably over 10 times already. Existing customers CAN purchase this phone with the CURRENT plans offered on newegg. This means that whether you're on an individual or family, you will HAVE to choose from the plans offerend on newegg as the family plan is currently not available at newegg. The problem is, you have to be out of a contract to do this as getting this offer through newegg is an UPGRADE. Unless you talk with ATT, you have to be out of contract. If you get a nice ATT CS rep, then he can make offers with you on newegg. The thing is, if you're currently in a family plan and wish to keep it, you're outta luck. Either you have to wait until the family plan offer on newegg is up (couple of months from what 3 newegg reps told me) or stick it to the individual plan. Now, i'm not saying you have to stay with the individual plan, it's just that, you CAN downgrade to an individual plan through newegg (have to be out of contract or you will have to pay a fee because its a DOWNGRADE) and then change the plan back to family through ATT. Thing is, you will have to REPAY the activation fee for however many people you have in your family plan. Thats about 26-36 dollars times however many people are to be back on a family plan and some other payments on top of that (talk to an ATT rep about it). If you're an individual who wishes to stay individual and is out of contract, this newegg offer probably has got to be the best deal online right now for the tilt. Hope some questions are answered!

Regards,
-K-

P.S. For those of you who are skeptic about upgrading through newegg, there should be a screen that pops up at the end of your order (past checkout) that prompts you for your current phone number so that newegg can port it over to ATT.

Posted by: Transponder

I bought a Tilt on Oct 6th and established a new account. Paid about $400 for the phone but I should have two $50 rebates coming which means I would end up paying $300 for the phone.

Can I use my 30-day trial period to cancel with AT&T and then go to Newegg for the $150 deal? Seems to me that would save me about $150.

Posted by: KBC88

If you were to establish a new individual account, newegg is your best bet, you'd save lots of money and newegg offers insurance on the device. If you can cancel it with AT&T without fees or at least as minimum as possible, then you should probably try through newegg.

Regards,
-K-

So it looks like I can't get this as an upgrade... bummer.

Interesting point. Only $150 for phone, cancel service within 14 days so you are not charged ETF, and you've only lost $36. $250 back charge from Newegg for canceling account still brings it to only $436 for phone with no commitment, not a bad deal!

Does anyone know if companies like Newegg or Amazon really do charge you $250?
What if you use a credit card with limit for say $150 + change to cover cost of phone,
do you think they will send your account to collections?
I'm not trying to screw newegg but it sucks that even though I am long time customer
I have to pay $400 to get a phone that a new user can get for $150.

Posted by: Neofite

Man, my contract is not up till feb with Verizon. Would love to jump on this and port my number back to AT&T

Posted by: Twenty4

Just ordered mine today from Newegg, switching over from Nextel.

I still have a year left on the Nextel contract but even with the $175 ETF I am only paying $350 to switch to the Tilt.

Yeah, but this is mostly directed to those non ATT customers who are thinking about or wanting to come to ATT. It's a promotional thing established by newegg and ATT... so for existing ATT customers... they still want your money!

Regards,
-K-

PS But keep in mind, for those individual-planned ATT cusomters, whether you're in contract or not, caculate the amount that you woudl spend breaking a contract (if you're in one) and try going for this newegg offer if you want a tilt. It can be your best bet. And if you're out of contract.. i can't tell you enough but... GO FOR IT IF YOU PLAN ON GETTING TEH TILT!

EDIT: oh and to answer your question, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't charge you the $250 dollars. Newegg is a company thats on top of things and if they see you break the terms and conditions with them, they will find a way to charge you htat $250 dollars fully.

Posted by: jakester03

On the data plans for Newegg I don't see the PDA unlimited. The closest I see is the Media Max or the Smartphone unlimited. Which one of these should I choose? I'll be syncing with my work Exchange server and my personal gmail account as well as google maps and sports scores

Thanks!

If you go wireless.att.com online like you are going to order one there is a link to both rebate coupons.

One requires the original UPC and the other lets you provide a copy. Don't get them mixed up.

Posted by: KemoSabee

on board with this one, even got wife's approval, even with 175 etf.

Anybody know how long it's taking newegg to ship these babies??

Had to leave verizon, wanted the xv6800, but after waiting way to long for it to get released, something verizon really likes to do, and seeing the tilt with gps, and for this price. I couldn't resist.

I did find it odd that they wouldn't ship the micro sd card with the phone, had to pay seperate shipping...oh well.

jakester03...from what I've been reading, don't add a data plan, just add it after your account is set, that way you don't have to worry about the 250 fee newegg will charge if you change you plan to a lesser valued one. Not only that, I would think that could potentially flag the order for review...maybe I'm being paranoid...

c'mon...no whammie...no whammie...no whammie!

Posted by: jakester03

Yeah, I don't mind paying for the unlimited PDA plan, I just didn't see it listed. I want to make sure I'm "by the book"

I've heard horror stories of people using the media max or smartphone plans with their PDA and getting hit with very large phone bills because of it.

Posted by: KBC88

Get the cheapest play with newegg, nothing else. (the 39.99 one) Then after its set, change your plan the way you want through ATT. (its the safest surefire way without violating the terms and conditions). Best of luck!

Regards,
-K-

PS Oh and btw, newegg ships 3 business days =) Theyre very reliable with their service, and if anything went wrong, make sure to contact them, they will provide you with as much help as possible. (at least for me, they have never, ever caused me any problems)

Posted by: jakester03

That's just what I did. Thanks!

Posted by: whitneybroach

Well, apparently you're not the only one who did.

Newegg was out of stock on the Tilt at 3:30 p.m. PT today. I signed up for the email notification (Search for the phone, then look for the notification button).

Don't worry, they seem to restock VERY quickly. My guess is that it will be back in stock come tomorrow morning

Posted by: KemoSabee

Well I ordered mine early this morning, so hopefully I don't get affected by this.
Also got overnight shipping, 'cause I'm impatient. I'm hoping mine get's shipped tomorrow, should have it at the latest by friday...I hope.
I've done a lot business newegg, never had an issue with them.
argh...patience is a virtue...one I have yet to learn...

Posted by: kvandivo

I ordered mine on Saturday.. 3pm. It's still in Step 1. So, those of you who ordered today.. you might have a while to wait..

Posted by: KBC88

newegg does not do anything on non business days (sat., sun.) So yeah its like you ordered it on monday.

I am just waiting until the end of November when my Verizon contract is up and I will be getting this deal.

My question is, if I sign up for the $39.99 plan, if I get then get my eligible premier rate on it, am I breaking the terms and get hit with the $250?

Posted by: Twenty4

Step 1 here also. I did get an email from Newegg stating that AT&T has approved me for service but that's it.

Posted by: kvandivo

I haven't even gotten approval from at&t yet. So much me for me expecting to get the phone anytime soon. ;( Oh well. It was cheap.

Posted by: KemoSabee

I just got off the phone with them, they had issues porting my number, after calling verizon and verifying that there was no block on, called them again and found that at&t won't accept my number since I don't live in the same business division...so they're supposed to be pushing the account on through now, but with a new number...bummer.

Then I asked if there was going to be a delay, due to the issue was it gonna put me on a waiting list due to them being back-ordered, he didn't think it would, but it was up to the warehouse at that point...

My sd card finally shipped though...

Posted by: kvandivo

Who'd you call? I wouldn't mind giving them a call myself

Posted by: KemoSabee

Toll Free: (800) 390-1119

I think it's option 3, tell them you want to get the status of your cell phone order, have your order number ready, they'll forward you 2 the correct dept.

Up to step 3...2 to go...

Posted by: kvandivo

Thanks for the number!

I hadn't given my verizon account number, and they said they had sent me an email (which I never got)...

Anyway, the guy set me up, upgraded my shipping to UPS next day at no charge, and I should have phone in hand tomorrow, with the # switch on friday

Just a heads up, you need to call 1-800-390-1119 from you home phone (or whatever phone number is associated with the credit card you used) or the order will not be released from shipment.

They have just been sitting on my order since yesterday waiting to contact me at home.

Posted by: kvandivo

Hmm.. I called from work. I'm now at step 3, which seems to indicate that the card has been charged and it's ok. We'll see.

The premier thing concerns me. I was under the impression that, even with premier, I'm still going to be on the $39.99 plan. (the plan isn't changing.. i'm just getting a discount).

My 'plan' is to go to the corporate store after I get the phone and get my activation fee waived/refunded and get the premier discount. We'll see how it goes.

So could I just get the phone and plan from newegg then just put my current att sim w/ a family plan into the tilt.. then use the new sim wit the phone i have now?? Just wondering because i want to keep my number. And im also looking for a cheaper way to get the tilt.

That would work.

As long as you are adding a new line everything should be OK.

Posted by: Twenty4

Just checked the status again, they were able to get it shipped out today. And they also shipped Next Day Air, I should have it tomorrow!!

Posted by: Xyberz

Just a caution. READ THE FINE PRINT when activating a new line. That's in the terms and conditions. I'm not saying Newegg is not a reputable dealer, actually they really are but they are a 3rd party vendor of AT&T products. As with most, if not all 3rd party dealers, there is some type of sub-contract associated with activating lines with them.

What that basically boils down to is that with that sub-contract, there is their own cancellation fee associated with signing with them. I've seen some termination fees that was about $350 in addititon to AT&T's $175 that we normally charge to terminate.

So that's the reason why they would drop the price lower that typical corporate locations.

The fine print can kill you sometimes and when you don't read, there's no one else to blame but yourself for shooting yourself in the foot later on if you should decide to cancel.

Also you can't take and return your phone to ANY corporate locations. All warranty issues is handled by Newegg. AT&T will only help you in-store with your services.

So you have to weigh the pros and cons of going with corporate or 3rd party.

Hm that's actually a toughy. Yeah it doesn't violate the "lower monthly bill" terms and conditions with newegg but it certainly violates the switching the number given to you by newegg, and switching out the device to another plan. The only legit way to switch a plan without being charged the $250 is by switching the plan from newegg by calling AT&T. Now you don't have to lose your number, you can upgrade by porting, but since teh feature of family plans is not available yet in newegg, you have to reactivate the rest of the numbers you have on your family. Which is the part where it almost basically nulls the $150 offer through newegg. I suggest you ask a newegg rep before doing that because they will find out easily and you will be charged $250 by newegg. Best of luck.

Regards,
-K-

Posted by: KemoSabee

And she's on the way...the only thing I will say was regarding the newegg fees. When I mentioned trying to port the number later, he was pretty vocal not to do that...maybe he was just being conservative, but I really don't fell like pressing the issue. I also am eligible for an company discount, but I'll wait out the 181 days...

Anyways, got a huge meeting tomorrow at 4 which is gonna kill me knowing she's gonna be here tomorrow...I'll be shaking my fist at the man at 4 until she's in my possession!

I want to get the Tilt on the NewEgg deal, but I plan on using the phone on my T-Mobile plan and giving my wife a razor to use on the AT&T plan. Would this invoke the NewEgg penalty?

Thanks,

OZ

Posted by: KBC88

yep, this is made for an AT&T/newegg promotional offer. For you to switch it to T-mobile, you would not only have to break the contract and pay teh fee, but pay a ETF fee with ATT and pay for unlocking the phone. I suggest you NOT use this offer at all for non ATT customers.

Regards,
-K-

Posted by: KemoSabee

KBC88, I'm a little bit confused with your response. I don't see how unlocking the phone has anything to do with the contract. For instance, if I have to go overseas for 2 months and plan on using a oversea sim, I can call them and unlock my phone, but still pay my monthly bill with at&t, why would it be breaking the contract, I'm still paying the monthly fee of my contract, just not using it.

This is no different, conceptually, then what disneyf1 is asking. Am I missing something in the fine print?

Posted by: KBC88

Sorry about that Kimosabee, I was referring to the post above me, about him wanting to switch to a Tmobile plan. You can NOT switch to any other carrier with that device or else you face the consequences with newegg. Was not referring to anyone else. Guess I forgot to quote

Regards,
-K-

EDIT: reread it, I read it wrong. He ISNT cancelling his ATT, but switching sim. Yes, I thought he meant he just wanted to get the tilt with this offer then cancel with ATT. But then again, he can not switch his device to another carrier, like T-mobile, service plan. He must keep his Tilt which he purchased from newegg with the same plan he bought it with for 181 days.

Okay, so what you're saying is that even though the AT&T plan will still be in use and kept up to date, the fact that two phones will be registered to it, not just the tilt, will breach the NewEgg contract. They can tell, I guess, which phone is beiing used more on the system and report that to newegg.

Bummer.

I'm getting a new account with someone for my wife, so I saw this as a way to get a tilt for myself - she doesn't want it, she likes the razor better.

Ant ideas of how to make this work with the newegg deal?

Thanks,

OZ

I plan on keeping the Tilt listed on my account until the 181 days are up then picking up a cheap "regular" phone.
Have the phone listed on my account changed to the regular phone and change to the Media Max 200 plan.

In the past I have bought 2 blackberries 8700's from amazon and cancelled the service within 1 month. and didnt get around to returning the phone. I never even called amazon. I was just going to keep them and let them charge me the 500 bucks for the two phones. its been 2 years (?) and they never charged me.

I contacted CS yesterday and requested some changes to my plan prior to purchasing my Tilt from Newegg. The CS rep quickly questioned why I was purchasing through Newegg and then insisted that AT&T could do better. I was Leary but allowed him to research it. It seems that AT&T will be competitive as my Tilt ended up costing me $125.00 after rebates and account credits. I would suggest that you call AT&T prior to signing up with Newegg. At least give them a chance to match the price. :-)

Tried that after reading your post. They couldn't find a way to make it happen. What did they do to make that amount for you. You mentioned credits and rebates - How'd it work?

Thanks,

OZ

Posted by: flip1199

i called a few different times and spoke with 4 different people. None of which were in any way trying to match newegg or amazon's price. They jus kept trying to push me to buy the $400 phone from them, and when i said no thanks i think i'll go with newegg they were trying to tell me that i wouldnt be able to keep my number and it would be a bad idea.. I spoke with the people involved with upgrades and phone sales, who did u speak with?

I tried that no less than 5 different times and each time was told to buy it from newegg becasue we can't match that price.

Guess you just got lucky.

Grrr Its been several days now, when are they going to have the tilts back in stock already? I'm ready to buy now!

1. Can I get away with signing up for just a voice plan or do I also need to sign up for a data plan? (I'll just go with the cheapest on both if I have to , no big deal)

2. Can I swap over my verizon cell number to at&t at anytime or only when ordering from newegg.

3. If I walk into an at&t store and asked them to use my corporate discount ( applies a $20 discount to my monthly bill,) will that violate the newegg terms?

4. If I take the sim out and use it in another gsm phone because I like to use different phones at times, does the newegg penalty stand?

Thanks for the answers ahead of time!!!
Arrrgh I want this phone so bad already!!!

Posted by: kvandivo

I signed up for voice and data, but they had the price at 149 for voice alone.

i swapped my phone number when i ordered. I think others have commented that order time is, by far, the preferred time to do that.

I applied for my corporate discount. It's still the same plan. I just get a discount on that plan. We'll see if newegg has a cow.

As I remember the terms, they protect the plan. As long as you don't do anything to prevent the plan fees from being paid, I don't recall there being an issue with switching the "newegg sim" to a different phone. (but, I can't get to their terms page if the phone is out of stock, so I can't verify that).

from their FAQ:

# Can I transfer my Cingular plan from one phone to another?
Yes. In order to transfer your plan, all you would need to do is update your sim and imei # in the Cingular system. Please contact Newegg within 30 days of your order date, and Cingular outside of 30 days. However, keep in mind that we cannot refund a phone without cancelling a plan, so you cannot return a phone while still keeping your service active.

Posted by: Namuh

Hmm sounds good, now if only Newegg had the darn thing in stock. I don't see why at&t can't match the newegg deal its their phone and service plans!

Any idea for restock time frame on this phone? So, I can buy a gsm unlocked phone, slap my sim from the tilt in it and it should work just fine right?

Posted by: yie-yo

does anyone know when the phone might be back in stock ?

Posted by: Transponder

I would guess ATT saw a lot of their customers who bought around Oct 5th returning their phone and going with the Newegg deal. Monday marked the 30th day since release so I'm thinking within a week or so they will probably be allocated more from ATT since the initial rush of buyers will no longer be able to return their phones.

Posted by: Namuh

I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon, its only 199.99 there so still a great deal. Free 2 day shipping there right now as well. Got here fast and the phone is awesome! Flashed the htc rom and all is good on my side of things. Good luck!

Posted by: jamieyang

amazon requires a data plan correct? but i believe newegg doesn't? i think i might just wait for newegg...ugh...this wait is killing me...

Posted by: yie-yo

yea im still waiting on Newegg for that same reason

Posted by: Pops_G

I had the Tilt from ATT for the $399 price, a total of 8 days. Then I returned it when I saw the Newegg deal, since ATT wouldnt price match. They told me I had to wait 3 days for my contract to be reversed. In this 3 days Newegg went out of stock.

So no I've sitting here over 2 weeks without the phone, after tasting its goodness. Only left with my dongle in my hand. I'm suffering for severe withdraw. So I'm begging the hundreds of you with your trigger fingers on the Newegg reload button to please wait till I get mine! I implore you.

Thanks in advance. I will post here after I get mine!

Please read the Newegg Tilt page :

Original Price: $549.99
As low as $149.99 with required rate plan

How can you think they will give it to you for 150 with out a plan? lol !!! Thats why I bought it at amazon its only 50 more bucks with required rate plan and free 2 day shipping. Required plan is a voice plan and pda data plan, which after my corporate discount amounts to 60 dollars a month for 450 voice and rollover minutes AND unlimited internet data plan. The phone is sweet!!!

Have you tried ordering from Newegg? That's what they put for all of their phones. If can order Blackberrys with no data plan and still get the discounted price, then I can get the Tilt for 149.99 without data plan. Unless I am very much mistaken.

Posted by: Namuh

Oh ok, well maybe they will with out a data plan, I however wanted the data plan anyway so I got it from Amazon, phone will be oudated by the time I waited for Newegg to get it back in stock, heh heh.

Posted by: yie-yo

Im Giving It One Week If Not Im Getting It From My Olam

Posted by: Transponder

Newegg is showing them back in stock for anyone that was waiting.

Posted by: kvandivo

with a $25 rebate...

Posted by: Namuh

You guys better jump on this, its a great phone, looks like no required data plan too. I live in 3g area so I got unlimited data plan and its great!

Posted by: jamieyang

good enough for me!

Posted by: yie-yo

is there an option for existing customers? my contract is over, im ready to upgrade....i cant seem to find it?

the only thing i see is during check out, where is says number portability i dont see ATT as an option...they should make this easier

Woo, just ordered mine from Newegg! This is great, I should be able to sell my old XV6700 on eBay for close to the $150 I'm paying for the Tilt!

I was surprised and pleased to see that they required nothing more than the cheapest voice plain to get this deal. I'd been looking at it on Amazon before they went out of stock, but they required more. I went ahead and signed up for nothing but the $40 voice plan...I figure I can call customer service to add data and whatever else I want once the phone arrives, and this way I'll be able to remove any of those features later if I want without fear of losing the $250 equipment discount.

Posted by: Loso_718

hmm.. looks as if I will do this thru newegg... I should be able to add a premier data/texting plan on top of it to make it all good (correct me if im wrong please) .. I dont want to tamper with the voice to make it whatever % cheaper to avoid contract breach though

I never thought the day would come that I'd be mad at Newegg. I've been ordering from them for so many years and have always been happy, until now.

When the Tilt was out of stock, I signed up to get the auto-notification e-mail when it came back in stock. I got that e-mail Friday night at 8:55 EST. I went home and placed my order for it at 9:30 EST (using my Newegg credit card).

I checked back on it several times on Saturday and my order was still at "Step 1". But, I checked each time and the Tilt was still listed as in stock, until sometime on Saturday night when it went back out of stock.

I just checked now and it's still at Step 1, still out of stock. Their online CSR's are back in now, so I chatted with one to get their assurance that my Tilt would be shipping soon.

Nope...turns out I'm SOL. Not only do they not have one to ship to me, but they'll also be canceling my order because they don't do back orders, so I won't get one when they come back in stock either. Instead, I get to wait, place another order, and just hope that I actually get one this time.

The CSR gave me a $10 credit off my next order, which is better than nothing, but I'm still mad at them. I expect this kind of crap from Amazon or buy.com, but not from Newegg.

Did any of you who ordered one from them in the past few days actually get it shipped?

Posted by: disneyf1

Got my TILT from an AT&T corp store for $125!

I talked to NewEgg CS a few times and they are great, but I don't want to have to go through them ifsomething happens to my phone ( they have their own AT&T dealership, they say) and the penalties seem to be way to much to keep up withif I want to make a change.

I saw a posting from someone that suggested calling a corp store known for making deals in NY. Well, a day later I have a TILT and after the rebate cards come in I'll be done at $125. They do charge tax but you can get them to refund the activation fee and shipping. This is for new accounts, of course.

If you're interested send me a PM. They give referral credits so mention me when you get yours!

Well, I have to take back my cursing of Newegg and instead direct it at that one CSR that I talked to. When I got home from work today, my order had gone to "Step 3", and then when I got home from class tonight, it was all the way to "Step 5" and had a tracking number. So, everything the rep told me was wrong, it seems, and I will have my phone by Thursday. Hooray for Newegg!

Posted by: kb9nvh

Now that is irritating!!! I hate it when the "representative" talks out his rear instead of telling you what he really knows (usually nothing). Hey man, just say you dont know...dont give me a line of BULL!!!

I placed my order on Friday and finally got an email from Newegg. It says that they "may" activate my new phone upon shipment. My current phone would be deactivated at the same time, leaving me phoneless and waiting for UPS. Has anyone else had this experience. I can't go through the Holliday weekend without a phone.

Yeah, I had the same experience, except I didn't get an e-mail from them saying that, so I wasn't expecting it.

I ordered mine on a Friday and it shipped out the following Monday afternoon with the standard 3-day shipping. Wednesday afternoon, I got a call from someone at my then-current provider, Verizon. They spoke really fast and all I could understand was "This is a courtesy call from Verizon...", so I said "yes?" and then they hung up. I guess they were calling to tell me my number was being ported out. Later that night, maybe 10pm, I noticed my phone said it couldn't get a data connection, but I didn't think much of it. The next morning it was still saying that, so I tried placing a call and found that my service was terminated.

UPS showed up that afternoon with my Tilt and it worked out of the box (well, had to call customer service to activate it first), so it wasn't TOO bad...about 18 hours with no phone. But, with the holiday this week, you might be out of luck unless the package gets delivered today.

Maybe you can call AT&T and ask them to delay the porting if it's not too late.

Is it reliable or it could be on its way already?

Edit -- My CC was charge so Im guessing they didnt update my process status..

The email they sent asked if I would like to cancel. I responded that I would decide on Friday once I knew what kind of deal I could get at the ATT store. I went yesterday but they said they didnt have the details yet. My phone would be an ATT upgrade and the newegg rep said they would have to set it up manually before shipment, meaning that it would in fact cause my current phone to be deactivated as soon as the tilt ships.

the good news is my phone finally shipped on the 21st...
the bad news is UPS doesnt ship on thanksgiving day OR the day after, saturdays or sundays.... I hate waiting

I am waiting to see if AT&T will have a sale on the Tilt for Thanksgiving weekend. I can spend $150 for the phone with contract and it seems like I shold be able to get it for my budget. I was on At&T website this morning about 11:58AM and it showed it is $149 after rebates. But by the time I clicked through checkout, the offer disappeared. When I try to buy it again it says $299. I am hoping at&t will have the same deal this weeked in the west. I am from Oregon so I may be abel to take advantage of west sale.

i purchased from neewegg and i recieved the att tilt so for my first time buying from them i say they are ok to buy from
they are based in city of industry california thats what is said on my packing slip!

I just picked up my tilt at the local ATT store an hour ago. I canceled my order with newegg since I couldn't go without phone service while I waited for it to arrive. I paid $150 and was without service for about 30 minutes while things were being set up. I am very happy now. Oh, and I'm in California so the deal is definitely on in the west. Good luck.

Posted by: jetfxr

Newegg is awesome. I posted a review on there site pointing out the technical mistake about a video card as a warning to other customers. The card is nonrefundable. They contacted me within days and gave me a $25 credit to my account, referencing my review. T

hi scurvous, im in the bay area, where did u get urs from? im on a family plan and was planning to upgrade in store if i can get it for 150, did you get the data plan so you would qualify for the rebate, so you paid 250 instore, which is 150 after rebate, or did you get 150 straight from the store??. every store i went to, said they wouldnt sell to me w/o data plan, which just sucks

Posted by: Ultimo119

I want to do this deal but what you guys are telling me has me worried.

I am in the position where I can get a data plan and 2000 minutes for this phone for 40 bucks a month through my At&t rep. Would there be any way for her to still change my plan to this? Even though it is through newegg?

Also how do I go about getting onto premier?

Posted by: zerilos

Ultimo, mention to your AT&T rep that you work for (whatever company) and ask if you're eligible for any discounts.

Posted by: Ultimo119

honestly i did talk to her and all she had told me about was a deal where i get 2000 minutes for 20 bucks a month and then 10 more the the unlimited blackberry.

She seems kind of off her game. she told me if I found a tilt for cheap to call her with some numbers and she'd put my plan through.

What im going to do is call ATT directly and get myself added bc i do not yet have a valid best buy email address and I will go through premier to get the phone

Posted by: Ultimo119

My main question here is if i do go through new egg can my rep modify the rate and plan etc on her end? or will that go against the terms somehow

Posted by: penpower

So has anyone applied his premier discount on the line yet? After I livechatted with a newegg rep, he said it is against the terms and contract.

Posted by: Ultimo119

What about through amazon?

Posted by: MDIFILM

I just placed my order with Newegg.com today at 7am (EST) and noticed the process stayed at step 1, so I called them at 7:26pm my time and they queued it and sent me an email within 5 mins to see if I agree for them to activate the new cell, so I said yes, but since my email usually gets into people's junk folder, so I sent another one via my other account plus check with web chat to make sure they gotten it, yeap, they did, very prompt and courterous...

Of course, I did what I did based on all the post here about how sometimes it takes a while to get it processed. I figured having a call would always help. And it did.

can't wait for my new phone to arrive

Posted by: kb9nvh

Is there any advantage to going through newegg as opposed to just buying though premier?

ok i have a family with 4 phones on verizon that the contract is over. I want to move to at&t and keep all our numbers and get a family plan. i also want the 150 deal on the tilt.

I was thinking just order the tilt with the minimum plan and then upgrade to a family plan and add the other 3 phones but don't know if i can.

i have read through the whole thread and don't know if this is possible. could anyone help me? thanks in advance

I have scanned through this thread and have read couple of people asking this question, but with no answers, so I'll ask again.

Has anybody been successful in switching their account to premiere after buying from Newegg?

I'm going to be new to At&t and this would help me out a lot in deciding to get this phone.

Thanks.

i switched back in late october. haven't yet seen any premiere discounts (they say it takes 30-60 days) and I haven't seen a charge from newegg either.

I read a couple places that some got AT&T the price match and other were told that they could not match. I think in this thread. I guess is depends on the rep you get.

has anyone got this deal on an upgrade with a family plan not an individual plan?

Posted by: tygrrwoods

I was able to get someone to price match newegg.com's price. After calling myself to several times I was basically told I need to cancel my account and re-order it from newegg.com. I went to return my phone(under 30 days) at a local corp AT&T store. Talked to the store rep. He said he had to call customer service to cancel my account. The customer service rep heard "canceling account" and went in to retention mode. They asked if anything the could do to prevent me from canceling. I probably could have told him I wanted to buy the phone for $50.

didn't know Newegg offer insurance for the phone... I got mine from Newegg on early Dec. I got it as an upgrade from my month-to-month account, overal, the experience with newegg was great, (other than the waiting game).

I got my ATT Tilt from ATT for $154.99, $20.00 Online instant rebate, $100 Mail in Rebate, $25 promotional code, $50 promotional code and $50 promotional code. Right now I paid $254.99 but after the mail in rebate I will only have paid $154.99. What do you guys think of that. I dont know if promotional codes are allow to be posted, otherwise I would have posted them.

Posted by: REAL

Posted by: soulja4187

I dont know if its allow, I dont want to gte banned from this great site. Can a mod please tell me if I can post the promotional codes.

Posted by: godashram

Posted by: Calisoldier83

dont rely on someone who only has 8 posts.

Posted by: higasauras

You can get it for $75 on the Walmart website.

Posted by: soulja4187

The $20 online discount is free
The $100 mail in rebate is free
The $25 promotional code is ESC25
The $50 promotional code is WLS50
The $50 promotional Code is BSPL50

Just because I have 8 post doesnt mean my posts arent valid. I just didnt want to post the promotional codes because I didnt know if they were allow.

This is what I managed to find, I guess the $75 deal is over.

They have a 99 dollar deal, but it looks like Amazon's 149 may be easier. You have to include a copy of the 4 month bill, etc, etc.... Just a pain in the butt it looks like.

8 posts or 800, thx for sharing; tried to ug account but the coupons no longer valid, ohh well...

theres always next time...!

Posted by: Guido13

Buy it through Amazon, IMO. No need to send copies of the bills, etc. It's $50 more, but less hassle.

Posted by: MDIFILM

Or newegg. $174.99 with $50 rebate.

I'm cool with you posting promo codes. If it turns out to be a problem I will let you know. In the future, feel free to PM any mod if you have a question for a quicker response.

Posted by: soulja4187

Thanks Wrangler3383 I will PM a mod next time I have a question. I re-tested the promotional codes and they all work the letter have to be in CAPS and sometimes you might need to re-enter 2 or 3 times before it takes it.

The $20 online discount is free (not available anymore)
The $100 mail in rebate is free (Active)
The $25 promotional code is ESC25 (Active)
The $50 promotional code is WLS50 (Active)
The $50 promotional Code is BSPL50 (Active)

So I tried using the Walmart Letstalk to order the Tilt on my contract extension, but it wont let me select my 450 minute $39.99 plan. What gives? I also don't see the old Data plans, because I'm assuming ATT notified all carriers to use the new ones start 1/20/08?

These codes are still active, I gave these codes to my friend today, he printed out the screen shot from att.com, took it into a corporate store and they gave him the discount to match the on-line price. He asked me to post a big thanks over to you
Cheers

Posted by: MDIFILM

I did a quick test with att online shop with the codes and they work, then I decided to take out the data plan (just have voice plan) and the price is still the same, pretty sweet

How did you get this to work? I went to online, and it said the codes had expired. Only one $50.00 one worked. Help?

Posted by: bmjones

I picked mine up for 149.99 with 2 $25 rebates so once I get them back 99.99 for the phone from Buy.com

You might have to enter then a couple fo times before it takes them and remember to have ur CAPS on when enetering the codes.

Posted by: godashram

do these codes also work for upgrades (not premiere) on at&t's site??

Posted by: Punker1234

They don't, HOWEVER, I called customer service twice to get them to match the price. First time they said they could give me 75 bucks. I called back two hours later, got denied, ask for manager and explained to them regardless of what I do, ur gonna give me the phone for that price if u give it to me here or if i cancel and order it through the website. They still didn't want too, but they finally budged. Took like 2 supervisors to approve. I have a 3 year old account with no upgrades, so maybe that helped in the decision.

I had a nice young guy helping me though, and I think being nice but firm is what will get it for you. Apparently the gentlemen told me they rarely do this, thats why it took about 45 minutes to approve.

Total price was $174.99 after rebate. They also didn't ask for any promo codes or anything, guess I could have made up a number huh?

Posted by: fsuscotsman

Is there a good price anywhere on an extension? I looked at the Walmart Letstalk but that will extend the contract on all the phones on my plan, making it hard for me to upgrade later!!! I just want to upgrade the one phone and AT&Ts price is $399-$100 rebate-$25 online discount=$274.

well, as a member with a fan account... they would not budge.... telling me to contact my account rep and have them negotiate a better deal.... i just didn't want to pony up $418 before rebates..... oh well.....

Posted by: fsuscotsman

Yes, that's what I'm finding. I can get it for a lot less through the Walmart site but that puts my other three phones into a Jan 2010 extension as well. I'm not going to do that. Surely someone else will find one that will just let me do one of my family plan phones.

Posted by: godashram

same problem here... i have to upgrade all the phones... but only 1 qualifies! so i guess no discounts for me... just the mail in rebate either way, i'm ordering it later tonight!

Posted by: fsuscotsman

I won't be out as much as I can EBay my newly refurb 8525 but still.....

Posted by: Punker1234

Bummer, they were really nice to me. Waived shipping, no upgrade costs, basically the phone and tax. It took awhile on the phone though, that was the only downside I see. You have to be sorta tough, if your a pushover and you get the wrong type of manager, they won't budge. I'm assuming you spoke to a manager?

I was a little aggressive and it payed off. I also tried to get him to throw on a feature code that is grandfathered for data and txt messages but no go.

Can someone else tell me if they have had success with getting a corp store to do this as well? I bought my Tilt + 2yr last night. I went in with cart printout in hand today after I was told last night that they would indeed price match att.com and national retailers. Showing the discounts with the codes, the manager looked at me sideways like I was talking a strange language. He nor the other salesman there knew what the codes where and then proceeded to tell me that they had no way to use them in their system.
I thought the whole point was that they could see that I could get the offering for less online and pricematch.

The past 3 days has made me wonder if this phone is worth the pain of dealing with this company for another 2 years!

Posted by: ctsinc2

Well, all I can say is I just got my Tilt, and I LOVE my saleswoman. My wife and I went in together , I got a tilt, she got a Pantech Duo. Lets just say the saleswoman did us very good! 199.99 each. (LOL)
AT&T Corporate Local Store

Posted by: REAL

is att still having the sale for $99

Posted by: wolfy2020

I got my tilt $99 from the corporate store. Took a little haggling tho. I did a search and found this pretty useful:

from the website

if a sales representative discounts a phone purchase, it comes strait out of their commission...

I laughed for a full minute thanks..

Is that not true? I don't know how accurate that article is but like I said it was useful for me. I was always under the impression that when a salesmen discounts a phone that it DOES come out of their commission. Is that not true?

Posted by: Ultimo119

If it goes below a certain price point it starts to take away yea.

did the corp sales rep thing for SWBELL MOBILE syetems.. > cingular > ATT for over 8 yrs..

selling price on the phone was never factored into commision ..

end of month numbers.. now he is right on on that ..

Posted by: Ultimo119

yea so if you were to sell a phone for a loss that could affect your end of month numbers

I'm wondering if doing this is possible:
Receive the Tilt for the NewEgg price (174.99 - $50 MIR).
Make it an added line (which means it'll be a family plan) instead of an individual line to my mother's account (she works for the Post Office, which gives her a 25% discount on the bill).
I will be getting the $30 PDA Data plan.
My mother has an individual line and has only been in her current contract for only a year with another year to go. She is willing to extend her contract for another two years.

If I call an ATT or NewEgg CSR, is it possible to do this? I am currently under T-Mobile and my plan is over. I'm just waiting for them to send me the unlock codes for my Dash and I'll be under ATT.

Posted by: dragonx6x

Damn... all these prices can i just sign up for a new contract different name then cancel it within 30 days.

sheesh...

Not 30 days. Maybe 6 months.

Does anyone know the answer to my question, btw? I plan to just go to an ATT store or call ATT and ask about it. Usually ATT employees either know a lot or barely anything. I don't really want to take a chance with a no-nothing worker.

Posted by: arogers

Nevermind. I ended up going to some phone store in Chinatown and bought it for $225 with 135 in rebates. And the guy said he'll waive the activation fee. Too bad I can't pick it up till later tonight since there are absolutely no more Tilts. I'm also signed to my mother's account, so I have the 25% discount.
