It can be unlocked to use sms/phone on another network but data will not work

The Sidekicks can not be unlocked from what ive seen.

I had my sidekick 2 unlocked thru t-mobile years ago. Im thinking the LX can be unlocked because its quadband

Tmobile stopped unlocking sidekicks,they are the only ones that can unlock them and no longer do it. Its been almost 2 years since they don't unlock sidekicks,besides any person that wants a tmobile branded phone unlocked must be a customer for 3 months. Even if they would unlock it you wouldn't be able to use data and that pretty much makes no sense. If go for an unlocked iphone if I were you.

This is not true, I called tmo just yesterday and they asked me what device it was and for my imei, I got my unlock 24hrs later, tmobile is required to unlock your phone after you have been with them for 90 days
