I have the free map download from TomTom and also GoogleMaps. Is anyone else using other applications such as Co-pilot or Street Atlas? I am looking for something a bit less expensive than TomTom.

Iguidance 4 is $99. I highly recommend it, even over tomtom

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 8125: HTC-8900/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I am pleased with TomTom, but iGuidance is good if you will travel only in North America. I believe iG 4 is $99 and has text to speak i.e. announcing street names.

Also, check out "mobile live search" by Microsoft. To me, it noses out google.

The only bad thing about Google Maps and Live Search are they lose the mapping if you go into a dead area. We have some around here, including a 40 mile dead spot on Hwy.20 (the MAIN road between Southern Humboldt, Northern Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties and the Sacramento Valley) between Clearlake Oaks in Lake County and Williams in the Sacramento Valley. I am going to invest in iguidance I think, if just to have my maps available in signal or out of signal. Don't get me wrong, I love Google Maps, MS Live Search and Telenav, and for most times they are great for me, but whenever I go over to the Sacramento Valley or up to Eureka I need a dedicated program like iGuidance or TomTom to work in the dead areas.

plus google maps blinking dot doesnt move the map, you have to. that gets annoying on a 12 hour drive, trust me

the built in telenav application is very good. and only cost ten bux per month. on top of that you never have to update maps or anything like that (all done by them on the back end) and it has turn by turn voice directions.

for me the ten bux per month is a no brainer. i don't understand why so many folks are trying to fix what is not broken.

Telenav is good, but the problem is the maps stop updating if you get in a no signal area, read my post above for what I'm talking about Like I said above, I have spots here I travel though that have 40 mile dead spots. If you live in an area with 100% signal, great, many of us don't and/or travel in areas that don't. If Telenav stored the maps on a storage card or phone, this would eliminate that problem.

It seems to work well. But I am finding the receiver in the Tilt is only OK. It seems to run an hide when ever I go under some trees.

Really? Mine works great even in the heavy tree (HUGE Oaks, some Pine, Madrone, Cottonwood, etc) cover out here, and in canyons as well. I can sit out on our back deck, with HUGE Oaks all around our property, with hills and mountains and it still picks up 8-9 satellites.

Edit-I haven't tested it in our giant Redwoods in Mendocino and Humboldt Counties yet, those may be a different story. The Oaks get pretty big too though.

It even does a better job of locating our house here in Redwood Valley than my Dad's Magellan unit. The Magellan has us down the street and on the wrong side of the road, but the Tilt locates us EXACTLY.

I'm using Destinator 6 and I've been very happy with it.

I just ordered Garmin Mobile XT, free traffic&fuel price info and free maps. I'll let you know how it works. It's fairly new. No monthly fee.

A no brainer? How is $120/year a no brainer when you can buy a standalone app for $99?

iGuidance 4 has worked great for me so far. Haven't tried TomTom yet, but I got iGuidance for free.

It's really easy.

$120 > $99
plus, I can use GPS when there is no cell/data signal.
