How to teach iPhone a new word?

Hey all, I've had my phone since launch day and something really really pisses me off. It refuses to use the word "oh"! It always corrects it as "on" and i tap it so that it accepts it but it doesn't learn it ever.

I even tried it about 50 times in a row to make it learn it and no luck. I reset the keyboard dictionary and everything and still...nothing. It's really pissing me off.

Yeah that is so annoying. Also when I type im it tries to make it in. I dont think there is a way to teach the iPhone not to do this.

Lol @ the thread title. It made it sound like trying to teach a dog a new trick. Anyways, to answer your question, I dunno either. I haven't been able to figure it out. Does anyone know how to have a signature for text messages?

You have to install the thing in installer that can make you turn off the auto correction.

mine says "oh", i did it by pushing on the 'x' when it tries to correct it. if not. let it spell 'on' then backspace and change the n to h and it should save like that.

Interesting.. I thought I read someplace one of the features was that you could teach the keyboard common words you use.

After reading this tread. I kept on typing the word Tchau which is Ciao, but in Portuguese... well guess what, the keyboard finally learnt it and now comes up automatically as I type it. So it does have a way of learning words.

i think when you type it and it tries to type it out and you press that X so it doesnt type it out, after doing this few times i think it picks it up. I type alot of words in my lang. and it has picked up few words and even fixs the spelling on it when i type it wrong. So i guess it must be automatic?

The auto correction seems to really have trouble with terms under 3 characters or when the term involves non-letter characters.
It handles anything I type with an apostrophe as two separate words, separated by a space, not as one word like it should.

OP: Add another h (making ohh) and the phone should be able correct that as oh.
