Debranding an AT&T Nokia 6555

After searching the forum, I haven't found a thread yet that discusses the possible unbranding of this phone. AT&T's version is 6555b.

Did anyone had any luck in debranding this phone yet? If anyone can give me an unbranded product code, I can attempt to debrand it myself and will post back the results here.

hey, any luck w/ debranding this nokia??? im about get it and would like to use it on tmobile. I hope i can get some info on that too.

I got the unlock code for my 6555 from At&t and it works fine now with T-mobile. What I am really curious to find out how I could turn off the 3G mode since there is no use for it on the T-mobile or overseas networks.
Seems like At&t has disabled the menu option for network selection.

Anybody knows if and how the phone software can be updated to remove this restriction?

if you got the phone from att -- just call them and tell them you are going to travel over seas and you want to use pre paid sim cards. If you have ben a good customer they will send your imei off and email you the DEVICE SPECIFIC unlock code..

I am too interested in this, since i hate the 3g service here.. it's awful and spotty, it also makes the phone use too much battery..

The AT&T version is 6555b, V03.31, 01-08-2007. Anybody tried loading an RM 271 firmware to an RM 289 yet?

Besides, Phoenix for some reason cannot alter the product code on the RM 289. I was using the Nokia branded cable. Anybody know how too?

If we're looking for the AT&T version, the only product codes that would be useful to us are those for the 6555b specifically.

If you have a product code for the 6555b US OEM, or for that matter any 6555b product codes at all, feel free to post it. (No PM stuff; let's help everyone out at the same time.)
