Tilt or 8525

I just lost my 8525 that was still under the 1 yr warranty. Looks like i am going to have to buy a new phone and was wondering if people think the Tilt is worth the extra $$ or not.

Broken down, it looks like i could get the 8525 for $100 AR, and the Tilt would run me about $300 AR. Any thoughts?

Keep in mind, i will want to run GPS on my phone but still migt purchase a separate package from Garmin so it may not matter it's on the phone

I had an 8525 and love the tilt a lot more...... its quite a bit more heavier, which i like, because i'm a big guy and rough on my toys...

it also FEELS smaller... keep in mind, it's really NOT that much smaller at all, it just feels so...

it's also a LOT faster interface wise than the 8525......i was actually quite suprised in the speed difference!

Overall, if i had to do it again, i would definitely go with the tilt.

I don't find the 8925 any faster than the 8525, in fact I find it slower sometimes (and I'm running the HTC ROM which has far less crap than the ATT ROM). I also find many things about it worse than the 8525. The click wheel is flimsier, it opens the wrong way, when opened the click wheel is difficult to access and you have to use the directional pad with your left hand instead of your right (I'm sure lefties love it though). The GPS is unpredictable. Sometimes it works on the first try when I start an app, sometimes I have to use GPSview first (obviously not an issue with the 8525).

Overall I still would keep the 8925 simple because of the fact it does have GPS built in and has so much more memory, but there are things about the 8525 I liked better.

Got the 8525, selling mine brand new for 325$, but this is to only get the Tilt. I played with the Tilt and it is hell of a lot heavier IMO, but 10Xs sexiier.

Anyone know of any reviews that compares the features of 8525 & 8925 side by side? That would would be very helpful to those of us who are about to make this decision.

You're crazy about the speed..... I even had vp3g's wm6 rom on my 8525, and find the tilt MUCH faster. Everyone complains about the scroll wheel on the tilt, but i can't understand why? The only thing that frustrates me is that it takes a little more pressure to click it down on the tilt than it does on the 8525.. i'll get used to it though.

You're right though, I'm a lefty and I love the way the tilt slides open. Very natural to me. Much more so than the 8525.

I haven't had any problems with the GPS on my tilt yet.

I had vp3g'wm6 on my 8525 as well and still found it to be faster. On my 8925 sometimes it takes a couple of seconds for the programs menu to load after I click on it with nothing else running.

I had VP3G also, and i was not amazed by the speed. I think the experience seems to vary from unit to unit, anad maybe depending on what SW you have installed.

X3Ro - you are making it a tough call for me to stay with the 8525, but even if it is better, i can't see it being $200 worth better. I think i stick with the 8525 for now.

BTW, I am lefty and just saw the TILT, but i am not sure how it opens different than the 8525?

The 8525 slides open to the left, the 8925 slides open to the right. So on the 8925, you need to use your left hand for the directional buttons and the scroll wheel is on the top right behind the screen instead of the bottom left at the bottom of the keyboard.
