7100i Radio won't Power Up

On 7/18/07 my 7100i crashed. I'd had it about 13 months with zero problems or errors and it just fried. The next day they had my replacement in. Immediately there was a problem. The radio would power up to the full NXTL and the first call I made or received would cut off at 32 seconds. Removing the battery doesn't help, powering down doesn't. They've replaced my 7100i 6 times and three different ARC stores can't figure it out. Everyone of them does the same thing. If you can ever get the radio to actually turn on it turns itself off 32 secs into a call. Same with two-way, although I don't have the exact time limit for two-way it appears to be roughly the same time frame. The 3 ARC stores in my area each have at least 20-25 other 7100i's doing the exact same thing. These techs are doing the best they can, but we're all baffled. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Nextel's BB hotline wiping out and reloading/upgrading software and nothing's worked. When you try to turn on the radio after it powers itself off, it will run a fresh battery down in about 2-3 minutes searching for service. We have a Nextel tower in our parking lot so I don't think its a coverage problem. Even with all these other 7100i users in my Mid TN area with the same problem, Nextel says it's not aware of a network problem in our area.

Here's what's been done so far other than 6 replacements:
Brand new battery
Brand new SIM card
Wiped out and reload/upgrade software
Master radio resets

If I ever get the radio to power up I get that thanks for registering your BB message and it will go thru that Verifying Security Software about 4 or 5 times. Then first call, BAM! Dead in 32 seconds. The PDA side of it is working great. I just can't use the phone.

At the moment I'm paying for the BB plan, a plain old loaner phone and Nextel won't give me a break on switching up to a comparable phone without upping the contract two more years. It's my company phone and I don't want to up the company's contract 2 more years just cause of me.

I posted this question on blackberryforums.com and thought it was fixed a time or two but for the last week or so I get the message that their site is down when I try to go to that site. Anyone here heard of this problem? There are a bunch of us in Mid TN that would be very grateful!
