Laggy Blackberry Pearl

Hey guys,
My Blackberry Pearl (T-Mobile) is acting up right now. Everything is just REALLY laggy. Even simple tasks such as scrolling or selecting an application takes a few seconds (3-5 seconds just to scroll!). The last thing I did was uninstall Opera Mini and reinstall it because it would cause my Pearl to crash. I updated to the latest OS just a few weeks back, but the problems just started to occur within this past week. Should I do a clean install and start fresh? Is anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks,
Jason
BTW, how would I go about "reformatting" my Blackberry?
Edit: Hmm, I just deleted all non-essential programs and the Pearl seems to be functioning much better. I didn't have many apps, but I guess it was taxing the system (even though they werent even open?).

The Alt+Esc (the BlackBerry mutitask key) can tell you what applications are running in the background. I was able to determine one app that was grabbing a lot of CPU.
Having third party apps don't slow the BlackBerry down. However, if one autostarts in the background and misbehaves, it can slow down a BlackBerry. To determine which, just reboot your BlackBerry and then do the Alt+Esc to view the list of background-running applications. If you see a non-RIM application that has apparently autostarted itself, there's your culprit.
