hey folks, newbie here. i've been reading various threads on here and have successfully made my own ringtones using audacity. no issues there. the problem is that i am attempting to send my newly created tones etc to my phone via bluetooth. i just got a dongle and thought y not.

the phone accepts these files, BUT, it automatically stores them in the "sounds" section of the "tones and sounds" menu/ function.. this renders them in accessable/ useless as a ringtone, as the phone will not allow you to use a "sound" as a "ringer". this i find a bit weird. why have these "sounds" wtf are they good for if not for call id specific ringers etc.

i was hoping someone could give me a hand in making my desired ringers....ringers

much thanks

yeah, send a new "pic message" containing the sound file you want to add as a ringtone, to your own cell no. Once you recieve the message, the sound will play and you will have the option to save the file as a ringtone.

Hope this helps. =)

Sounds like you are making them correctly, now you will need BitPIM software to transfer it to your phone to the proper directory to use as a ringtone.

You can get BitPIM from there website, it is free software.
http://www.bitpim.org/

Once you get the software and install it, you can copy your mp3 file to the ringtone directory using BitPIM's media area in the left-hand menu tree, or with direct file access to the \Brew\16452\lk\mr directory of the phone.

The sounds directory is used for voice recordings, pix msg sounds, and other things.

how do i access this directory on my ohone via bluetooth. i know how to send items from the phone to the comp and vise verse, but this does not link me to the phone's softwear directly, just sends info.

You need to use BitPIM software to do it. Look at my previous post.

Download and install the software, then run the Phone Wizard and connect to your phone, in the View menu select View Filesystem and then you should be able to find it.
