Another phone or a refreshed version. Who know...

Well, let's see.

They learned from the price drop debacle, that people expect at least three months between model / price changes.

So yeah, I can see doing some changes three months after the UK launch. Perhaps as simple as going to 16GB.

Edit: Sorry, got distracted. I think the bigger news is that of a possible Apple ultra small PC. Can you say, Star Trek PADD?

Of course, UMPC's aren't exactly flying off the shelves. Huge cost for something not as easy as a laptop, and too big to fit in your pocket.

everyone sees it coming.....just when is goin to be...not before holiday season so more people can be pissed off lol....but agreeing prolly a few months after its realased in UK

Now that Apple has hopefully weathered the "First Run Blues" with the current iPhone...the Gen-2 phone should be a kink-free device. And...it might be the ticket back to the iPhone for me.

We'll see how it goes...

16GB +GPS +3G would be a winner for me. Although I would probably buy one now if they just came out with a 16gig version of the current phone.

Apple would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't include 3g. Come on most people are not going to upgrade for 16gb only. You'll see flash support, 16gb, 3g and the introduction of the SDK allowing third party apps. The old ones will get that too so not telling what **** people will get working on the older phones.

Predictions for apple releases that exceed 2 weeks maximum are worthless.

File Sharing via Bluetooth, 3G, and MMS would make me probably buy a new one!

One can only hope..

GPS and 3G would make the upgrade worth it for me. And iChat!

I wouldn't be the least bit disappoitned if Apple released a new one in March, so soon after the current iPhone. I'd probably be first in line and put my current one on eBay!

Hope all you want, but that's not gonna happen. Period. Apple does not want users to share songs via BT, since it would detract from the iTunes store.

Don't expect GPS either. While it would be nice, it'll suck battery life to much. Apple isn't going to sacrifice battery life for features. 3G is a possibility, and larger size is a certaintity. Other than that, perhaps a slight redesign, or the availability of colors. Voice dialing is a possibility, but would require A2DP, which Apple is probably resisting since that could lead to file sharing via BT. Remains to be seen if Apple will lock down BT or open it up...

I think the next iPhone release will be a second model in the line. But as someone else said, Apple predictions this far out are usually bogus.

I have no doubt they'll release another phone. But March, not so sure about that. Maybe? They may space it a bit just considering the whole price drop fiasco. It they do release something in March, I would expect just an increase in storage space and maybe being able to get a colored iPhone.

Look at the pattern with iPods...first they increase the amount of space available, then they add flashy colors, then they change the form factor a bit, and then eventually, they release a completely different generation. I see that pattern happening with the iPhone. Anyone else?

I agree that apple isn't going to enable BT file-sharing.

Does GPS really suck up battery life that much? I would think that it wouldn't be that big of a drainer, since it would only turn on while maps is running. I would think 3G would drain the battery far more..

My prediction:
Iphone 2 = iphone + 3g + more memory + fruity colors

Apple has 0 incentives to add a gps to the device.

The incentive would be that more and more phones will start having GPS standard. Just like cameras. If Apple doesn't include it, they might be the only phone that lacks it in a couple of years. But then again the iPhone lacks basic capabilities most other phones had for years. So who knows.

Also if this report is accurate, it will have GPS:

I'm guessing you've never had a nextel? GPS will drain you batter in not time. Nextel dosent even recomend using it if your phone is not pluged in to a car charger or something...although I would like to see it add. It is a nice feature when in a jam regardless of batter life as long as you get there I guess...
