i have a 580i and im wondering if the parts are interchangeable with the s500i?????

cnn.cn has this silver keypad and black/yellow housing for the s500i that i want..

has anyone actually tried ?

It would be great if someone knew. I would love to put a s500 face plat on a W580. I think the S500 look much nicer.

Yeah, it'd be great if someone has had experience with this. I desperately want to put the black s500i faceplate on my w580i. I've taken a look at the service manual and I think the most I'll do is change the faceplate and the backplate, if that's possible. The middle chassis/frame part looks way too hard and complicated, specially since it's a slider phone.

I really hope the faceplates are interchangeable, anyone know about this? I really want to avoid messing with the inner frames of the phone.

i think the keypad layout is different...bro was telling me about some crap wasn't interested...but i'm sure he found tat out somewhere search around =D and he did say it aws possible dunno if his friends done it or sumthing again search around... sorry it its not true tho

Judging by the looks of both models, I don't think it will work because the keys are not exactly the same.

hey i just switch the two faceplates today and they fit perfectly. i have yet to try the keypad and the back parts but im pretty sure they would fit.

okay i also changed the back plates and i think it looks so much better when its all black. i still have to change the keypad though.
here are some pictures. i would take pictures of the s500 i swapped with but it's my cousin's phone and she went out tonight

Hey I was planning to buy one to do the exact same thing!

Just curious about 1 thing though, when u swap the W580 keys to S500, does the halo around the speaker change to green too? Cuz if its backlighting dependant, I will have to buy a grey W580!

The buttons are white because i haven't change the keypad yet so it's still the original keypad that came with the w580.

The backlighting behind the keys and the speaker are just white. So the halo will change to green.

@szetor while swapping the housings did u have the swap the pcb for d pad?? so w580i pcb to s500??? or could u just use the original ones....basically wat i'm trying to get at is if i get a s500 housingdo i need a s500 pcb

oh i answered it =DD u don't need to switch it... if u go to cnn.cn or gsm4world.us which ever u prefer and look under s500 u'll c tat they list the pcb as w580/s500 pcb which means it is the same... i'm gonna be swapping the black front/back plate onto my grey w580 hope it turns out good if not i might end up swaping the whole thing... gl on urs

I just realized the back and front plates aren't attached to the center parts...

It doesn't look like the ebay ones come with the center parts either, can anyone confirm?

The S500i and w580i are essentially the same phone. The only difference is that the w580i has the accelerometers. Past that they are the same phone.

??? the pcb might have been diff if u noticed that the keypad layout was different... and i determined it was the same... i dunt think i asked a question and yes i know that the difference is w580 has pedometer...

The all white is sweet, i broke the tabs on my aluminum plate

I guess they meant it when they said "don't reuse the aluminum plate"

My friend did the design with nail polish. Its great and doesn't rub off.
