Anyone got this message yet? SMS Limit?

"Your SMS mailbox is almost full. Please delete some messages" - 8gigs and I have a limit to SMS messages?

Posted by: bootycancer

Nope...not me.

You must text a whole bunch. I think it's coming from ATT, being that you are closing in on your max SMS limit of your plan. Remember, there is no data plan with the Iphone. You pay for minutes and SMS. The Iphone 8 gigs has nothing to do with anything but what Itunes let's you do.

I hope your buddy has an unlimited data plan(not an Iphone). because he/she doesn't seem to have too much money.

it's my phone and I have unlimited text messages

yes I've got that same error.. I know it has nothing to do with your plan its probally just low SMS memory on the phone

Posted by: dubohio

yea I didnt think it had anything to do with the plan. But I do text a lot but I dont understand why they would limit the SMS on a 4 or 8gig phone... wired

Well they probably save all the texts to the sim card, like most phones do. My Nokia N80 has an option to where to save all the texts, i think the iphone should also have this (although it doesn't, its just a thought).

I just got that Today. using it in canada unlocked on rogers. I think they just limited the sms memory.

How many messages have you had on the phone before this message occurred?

Texts are saved on the phone, not the SIM (like the default setting on a lot of smartphones). I think there was a post here that said the iPhone can only hold 1000 SMS messages. Googling "iPhone SMS limit" finds a dozen sites saying the same thing.
If that's true, I'll never reach that limit. There's only so long that "okay" and "talk to you later" can stay on my phone.

yeah i wasn't sure.

even only 1000 is kinda rediculous, IMO. There is probably a setting somewhere in the software that can be changed though. Should ask on hackint0sh.

I just got the same message today as well!

This was posted a while ago I think that someone got that message. I've never gotten it but I normally clear out a conversation after I'm done with it just because I'm OCD like that.

Youre not an apple developer are you?

I've had this message a couple of times now... I text a lot. Either they are storing the SMS's on the SIM card, so there is limited storage, or they have allocated a portion of the 8Gb to SMS storage and that portion is getting full.

There have been a couple of posts on this before...

ha i think that was supposed to be a joke, but i wish. i did however do an internship for apple my junior yr of college, and i'm considering applying for a job when i am done. either apple, pixar, boeing, or motorola. not sure yet. i'll probably go with whoever is willing to pay me more to feed my expensive gadget buying habits. i'm sure you know how it goes, haha

I get this message every day haha I use 5000+ texts a month and hate to delete important conversations. Look for syphone, a text message backup program for mac.

Posted by: Hamzter

It's obviously not got anything to do with the physical storage capability, it'll just be limited to stop people having an unmanageable number of texts. My current phone has a 200 text capacity, which is enough for 1-2 weeks of conversations, it's very rare I want to look at texts older than that.

I posted on this a while back, I hope they fix this with an update? Cause I would rather not delete my convo's. I do text a lot about 100 a day. So sometimes I still need too look back at a convo.
