No data on Pearl

I just went from a Treo 750 (Cingular) to the Blackberry Pearl (ATT), I took the sim card out of the Treo (3G sim) an dput it in the Pearl. I have the data plan and have not yet switched to the Blackberry plan. However, the phone tells me that my network connection is being rejected.
Any thoughts?

you need a blackberry plan to use it data on the blackberry (maybe i'm wrong but that's what i always thought)

Thats because your account has not been provisioned with BB data.

actually if you can transfer opera mini to your pearl, ( there are some reports of it working, i havent tried) you will be able to surf the web via opera mini. also you can use gmail from emails
