how to change carrier text not icon??

can someone point me to a guide somewhere that'll show me how to change the carrier text to one of those carrier icons? since i'm not on AT&T i can't just go and modify the AT&T icon in the files ~ i tried looking on the web and the only site i found that kinda teaches me is modmyiphone.com ~ but i keep getting a script error so i can't see the guide ~ any help is appreciated thx

What does having ATT have to do with modding your phone?

The easiest and so far, the safest way to do it is with "Customize".

First off, let us know what firmware you are currently running so we can help.
I'd be happy to point you in the right direction in terms of installing AppTap/installer and apps needed for visual tweaks.

sry ~ i'm using fw1.1.1 atm ~ coz i tried changing the default AT&T png file and the FSO file and it did nothing ~

As you had to jailbreak to unlock 1.1.1, load up installer and download "Customize"

It will allow you to change what you need and figure out wheer you need to put your files.
In terms of your own PNG's, etc you'll have to check modmyiphone.com.
I know you get an error loading the page so try another browser.

I'm using a 102 on t-mobile and customize doesn't work to change my carrier logo, no matter what I pick it stays as t-mobile.

Because Customizer only replaces the AT&T logo.

If you are on any other network it does not work.

If you are on T-Mobile you will need to change the Default_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png & FSO_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png files. Check out the guide at Hack the iPhone:

what if i'm on rogers? which png do i change? or is it even an icon? it looks more like just text ~ coz on mine it saids Roger Wireless while my friends shows ROGERS WIRELESS. i tried using customizer and it did nothing ~ it shows the screen then quits

you will also need this modified springboard too for it to work...it wouldnt work before I uploaded this modified springboard

so you replace Default_CARRIER_ATT.png & FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png
with your modifed png files of the same name...then upload the modified springboard that you will have downloaded from above...restart the phone and voila, you're good to go!

i tried the patching the springboard ~ i'm guessing it doesn't work on 1.1.1 ~ coz it froze on the apple logo and i have to restore ~ now i'm running 1.0.2fw on 1.1.1 baseband

yea...maybe 1.1.1 you will need another version of the springboard that is patched

oh well i'm gonna downgrade my baseband back to 3.08.14 ~ or does it matter if i run fw 1.0.2 with 1.1.1 baseband ~

nm ~ ya you have to use the patch for the designed fw ~ the springboard file is different size in the 2 fw ~ in 1.0.2 the file is only 6xxkb while the 1.1.1 is 7xxkb ~ the one you are replacing have to be the same size otherwise you'll just freeze on the apple logo

i'm have 1.1.1 anySim unlocked, using T-mobile.

when i went to Zion NP (Utah), i find the carrier logo changed to some number, instead of any name. when i checked my friend's tmobile (regular phone), it says "Alltel"

looks like iphone can NOT automatically recognize roaming partner

is there any way fix this?
