Backing Up Everything- HOW?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

(Sorry for the total-newbee question)

I have never used a PDA before.

I tried searching the forums before posting but no luck.

I just got the Tilt from an AT&T store. They set it up. I turned it on. It went through a calibration and .cab installation procedures. I tested calling and receiving and I run a DSLReports speed test (800kbits/s - New York City).

Now that I know it is working, before messing up with it, I would like to make a full backup so that if I break it I can restore from the backup.

1. How do I do that?

2. Can it be done to a microSDHC card?

3. How big in size file should I expect.

4. In a few words - is "soft reset" the same as rebooting on PC and "hard reset" like as if you do a Windows recovery (to a brand new state) on a PC.

Thanks!

Spite Backup is the app you need to get to backup everything.

Thanks!

As I was reading your post I was scrolling though the Tools folder under Programs. There is a Sprite Backup tool there. I tapped it and it started - it did not ask me for serial # etc.

Is this program REALLY included with the Tilt?

Is that ALL I need to do to preserve the current state of the PDA?

Thanks!

I didn't know Tilt included Sprite Backup for free This is arguably the best backup utility out there.

Any info on the other questions - especially 3. and 4. ?

Thanks!

OK,

I think I did not explain clearly what I wanted to do:

I want the whole FIRMWARE saved as a file to the microSD card

How is that possible?

Thanks!

It does not backup firmware. Firmware is already in ROM and will not go anywhere. If you want to find a way to go back to original firmware after you upgraded your firmware in the future. You need to get original firmware files from makers and flash the ROM to the desired firmware first. Then run Sprite Back to restore everything else.

I just got this Sprint backup software installed on my PC and my new Moto Q Global... so how do I use it? There's so many options on this...
