Best deal on Tilt with Familiy Plan??

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm out of contract and would like to get the Tilt but i'd like to remain on my current family plan. I looked online and on premeire it's $399 to upgrade And it seems amazon, newegg dont offer any deals for family plans. Is there any way to get this phone without paying $400 to upgrade and without getting it through newegg on an individual plan??

Posted by: Brandonium

I am on a family plan. I called AT&T yesterday and talked with a CS rep. I was going to be out of contract in 2 weeks and the only reason I called in was to request a rate change to accommodate the Tilt which I was going to purchase from Newegg. When I mentioned where I was getting the phone the CS rep insisted that I let him attempt to match. I didn't have to argue, beg, etc. He went to Newegg and looked up the price. He inquired as to why I hadn't thought of purchasing from an AT&T store and all I said was that they wanted to charge me double than the Newegg advertised price. When it was all said and done my phone was ordered and after rebates and account credits it'll have cost me $125.00... It's worth a call!!!

Posted by: flip1199

what was your cost OTD? because i know there are 2 $50 dollar rebates. Was this regular CS or Premier CS?

Posted by: Brandonium

This was regular CS. My total was around $290.00. Subtract about $100.00 for rebates and they credited my account $70.00 dollars. That's how it worked out.

Posted by: ROLLTIDE

It's $299 once you add data for 1 year and then there is a rebate for $100 for $199 total

Posted by: flip1199

hmm.. i guess CS jus didnt like me or something because i talked to 3 different people (3 different calls) and i mentioned newegg.com and mentioned getting a data plan and it was still $399 w/$100 MIR...

Posted by: ROLLTIDE

Why not just do it online ?

Posted by: MakaveliReturns

I got it from the Premier site for $299+Tax. Great deal imo. I didn't bother with the rebates, too lazy. I chose a PDA plan as well as a 39$ voice plan and that gave me 100$ off+ $25 off equipment.

Once you get the phone don't activate it or anything. Just put in your old SIM card.

Posted by: flip1199

i tried online. It says my price for the phone is $399. i even added a data plan but it still didn't drop the price. i didnt try adding a voice plan because i'm already on a family plan.

You must add the data plan to get the discount and they will not change your voice plan

Don't worry about it, just add the data PDA Unlimited plan and a $39.99 and up voice plan and you will get $100 off during check out. Your plan won't change at all because you won't be "activating" your phone when you get it.

Doesn't it make the change when you finish checkout? So are you saying if we do what you said, we won't be in a 2 yr contract either? That doesn't sound right?

Posted by: flip1199

well i guess your premier deals must be different then mine.. or i'm not seeing something here... i tried adding a $29 and $79 dollar data plan but i didnt get the $100 discount.

edit:
ok i figured it out.. in order to get that $100 discount i would HAVE to choose a voice and data plan. and for some reason it can't be done with a family plan. It only seems to work with a individual plan..

Well I did it and I didn't even get a 2 year contract. You might get a 2 year contract, but you won't be forced to have a new voice plan or anything.

I have a family plan with 4 lines, I ordered the tilt on the 2nd line through premiere with the voice and data plan, it came out to $299. I received it, popped in my old sim and it worked. My plan hasn't changed.

And yes it has to be an individual plan. You're not getting charged for the new plans. It comes with a new SIM card and if you call in to "activate" it the new plan will go in effect and your line will now be individual, which you don't want

Be careful. I just went through the same thing last night. After reading all the posts here saying my line wouldn't change, it did. I upgraded my wife's line and it got separated out into it's own line. I did get the phone for $299 on checkout though. I called cs and at first they said pdas cannot be on family plans so i tried to cancel the order but then she put me on hold to research. She came back and said she put the line back into to family talk group. I checked olam and everything was back to normal.

Posted by: kuj

oh. By the way. I didn't activate it yet either. Haven't even gotten the phone yet. My wife got a welcome to att text message which is what prompted me to check olam.

Same exact thing happened to me. Upgraded my wife's phone, 2nd line, and it automatically changed the plan to an individual one for that line. I called CS and got it changed back, but we lost over 2000 rollover minutes. When you add a line to a family plan it knocks you down to one month's minutes, which in my case is 850. They wouldn't give the minutes back to me even though nothing really changed.

Can't you get in trouble for this?

You can do family plan with 1 year contract and get it for $299 before rebate

Kind to share how this can be done? I am about to port a line in and change the current individual to family. The Tilt will be on the new line.

TIA.

I went to my local corporate store and bought a tilt outright at retail price minus my FAN equipment discount (60%). Checkout price was $240 + tax without upgrading or renewing my contract. Since the OP mentioned having access to Premiere you should be able to do the same.

Posted by: flip1199

whoa.. so do i jus go into a corporate store and give them my FAN #?

EDIT: damn it looks like my equipment discount is only 35%...

Went to a corporate store today, they had the tilt on new activations for 100 after rebate, 199.99 before mail in rebate (stipulation of having to sign up for the 39.99 data plan). Not bad, I think I will jump in for this.

Well, i called my friends store today where she is a supervisor and she said she can get the manager to match me the price deal i was going to get from Letstalk which is the same, $199.99 to pay now and $100 after rebates and that for me to be on those terms if i get to get this deal from corporate since will be a new activation family plan (2 Tilts) still will have to be on the same terms as letstalk, 4 or 6 months i think of the PDA plan in this case we are getting PDA Personal Max for both phones plus a family nation rollover mins plan, she said she didnt promised me anything but since i saw this post i called her again and told her that many stores are actually doing the online price match, since i wont be getting my phones but untill Nov 1st, we are hoping she can get us that deal besides that way we get the phones right away instead of waiting 5 days to get them from lets talk.

We'll see.

JMONA,

The store I went to didn't say it was any sort of price match, they just outright were selling it at that price. I was surprised too since the other day I was just in another corporate store and they were selling it for 299.99 AFTER the rebate (which is the price online). So... I don't know why that store was especially lower. But, I did ask if all corporate stores have same pricing, and she said they should and that I should be able to get that deal at any AT&T store. Eh. We'll see. I am going to try and get the deal at another corporate store that is closer to where I live.

Posted by: flip1199

What city/state was this store in? Care to share they're phone number?

Posted by: JMONA

the Mall @ Millenia, Orlando, FL

Not all Corporate stores have the same deals, or the online matching price, i have around the corner of my house a Corp. AT&T Store and went in to ask the same about price matching and they said they wont do it, but to just call AT&T CSR and ask about a list of stores in my area that they know the do this.
Again my friend hasnt said if its going to be a done deal, it all depends on the manager, i wont know till friday if not, We'll go ahead and order from Letstalk.

Posted by: dopke

I called the ATT store again, they said they had no idea where I got that pricing. Figures... in any case, I'll try to go back to the store and talk to the same sales rep cause I got that pricing in writing from her.

Posted by: JMONA

I went and said what the "Heck" so went and ordered my Tilts lastnight through lets talk, my friends manager wont come back from vacation till tuesday next week and we kinda need our phones right away, and since im away from home and wont be able to receive them till i come home on friday so they put a hold on them for me so they can be ship overnight on thursday and get them on friday cant wait, im counting the days, hrs, mins and secs... i couldnt sleep lastnight, besides im thrilled that while i was searching for games for my new tilt, found out that AT&T will be getting Guitar Hero Mobile and probably the Tilt is compatible
See it for your self !!!

Did you ever get your phone from letstalk? They seem to have incredible deals so I'm naturally skeptical. I'm also confused by the fact that Amazon.com states in it's discount stipulations for the tilt that you cannot be upgrading any portion or the entire Family Plan. Yet, Letstalk allows you to go through an upgrade link and choose a family plan just fine. Anyone know anything about this?

Hello, In fact I DID:d and ever since i've been the happiest woman alive hehe still trying to figure out a lot of things since this is my first ppc, anyways, so far i have no complaints with LetsTalk, they sent the 2 Tilts and im very pleased with the transaction een tho it came with no extra earbud set but an extra stylus, which is alright cus is the same i was getting with it if i would have gotten it from the AT&T store. new, sealed, there are no scractches or anything that says if they were refurbished or anything so yes im pretty confindent with them, unlike amazon, my brother bought a Tilt from amazon and he was really upset cus they sent him a refurbished one... bottom line from now i will be buying my phs from Letstalk, besides i got overnight shipping shipped ontuesday last week and got them next morning

Although i think price went up to 125.00 after rebates. ist still a whole lot better than 299. after rebates from premier.
