(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I can't seem to get the MP3 player started, it just says player error, then goodbye?

I have to be doing something wrong, but what?

Any ideas???

Some additional information would probably help, like the phone model at least, but anything else useful would help as well.

Like Comrade said, you've got to give us more to go off of.When there is no card in the phone, or no music in the card it behaves like that. Are you putting the music in the my_music folder of the card? You're not trying to bring your pesky iTunes mp4's onto your LG phone are you?

Need more info for a better solution.

Wirelessly posted (LGE-VX9900/1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

I also have the same problem with my VX9900. I don't have a memory card in the phone though, which I am assuming has somethhing to do with the problem. Do you have a card in your phone? My old VX8100 wouldn't allow me to use the mp3 player unless i had a card either if that helps....

I have a 1 gig card formatted,,,

Added music to the card from my PC,,,

These are the same tune I have burnt to CDs in MP3 format,,,

They are not protected,,,

I can take the card out of the phone and play the tunes on my PC,,,

When I press the play button on the front of the phone it just says "Player Error",,,

Ok, is there an on/off button I'm missing???

What firmware version do you have on the phone (you should be able to find it by going to settings and phone/device information, or something similar)?

did you format the card in the phone or in the computer?

You should try this. Reformat the card in the phone, then put the card into your card reader. Now copy ONE mp3 file with Windows Explorer that is known to play into the my_music directory of the sd card, has a filename length under 30 characters long with no unusual characters like !@#$%^&* or anything you couldn't use in a DOS filename, has a valid version 1 ID3 tag, is encoded at 128k CBR, 44100hz, joint stereo, doesn't have DRM, and isn't in a subdirectory (they are not supported, the mp3 file must be in the my_music directory, ie. "\my_music\seether\fake_it.mp3" wont work, but "\my_music\seether_fake_it.mp3" is fine).

Now open My Computer and right click on the icon for the card and select Eject. Put the card into the phone and try the music player again, it should start playing the song with in a few seconds.

If this works, great, build on that.

If it doesn't, take the card to a Verizon corporate store and insert it into one of the demo phones and try to play it there. If it works, its your phone thats the problem, if it doesn't, its something with the card or mp3 file.

EDIT: When you format the card with the phone, it should create the directories on the card for you, you should have \my_flix, \my_music, \my_pix, and \my_sounds directories on your card and nothing else at all, this is how you can tell if your format worked properly.

BTW, how are you installing the files?

Bluetooth, USB cable, or card reader?

BitPIM or other software?

OK, just wanted to verify that. I think using Bluetooth to transfer music directly to the phone with My BT Places is not possible without using BitPIM via BT because the music folder doesn't show up on some phone with bluetooth.

Just trying to cover all the bases.

I'm not really sure why you quoted my post with the firmware question in that reply since it doesn't seem to mention anything related to the question as far as I can tell.
