PDA/Smartphone that locks the screen/keys?

I have a Cingular 8525 right now (aka HTC Hermes) and I love it. It has been of great use and everything.

However, I want to switch to a slimmer phone. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Samsung Blackjack and the Blackberry Curve 8810.

Although the Blackjack seems a bit dated, I still like its slim design. Also, as you can see, these phones are on the cheaper side, so I'd like to stick with that.

The main problem I had with my 8525 is that whenever I receive a call or a text, the buttons and the screen activate, which means any accidental movement inside my pocket means accidentally pushed buttons and loading a bunch of programs.

I would assume there is a feature that would lock the screen and buttons whenever an incoming call, missed call, or even a text is received.

Are there any other phones like this?

I've never had a problem with my WM smartphones unlocking their keys. The Pearl has a unique problem in that the trackball can jostle around and do stuff while in your pocket, but I don't think it should be a problem after locking the keys.

i use a moto rokr e6. although it's name suggests music orientaion it has full smartphone capabilities(ie: appoint, business card reader, can open word docs and even edit excel spreadsheets. and since it runs linux it is completely modifiable

anyway back to your topic, the e6 has a physical locking switch to make it very easy to lock and unlock your phone. no multiple button combos and no it doesnt unlock when a call comes. it only temporarily unlocks the physical "send" and "end" keys and relocks them if you ignore the call.

it definately doesnt have a dated look but it might be played out since it has the generic RAZR design. thickness is actually about the same as the blackjack. i have both and although the blackjack is 2mm thinner it's hardly noticable even when held side by side because of the buldge from its camera module. but the weight difference is definately there. i prefer the heaft of the phone as it feels more solid but thats personal preference i guess.

anyway just a thought. good luck phone hunting!

The SE M600i is dated, but really cheap and locks the keys when you hold down the side button. If you don't answer the call or when you finish the call it will relock the keys for you. It also keeps the keys locked when you receive a text.

One of the biggest drawbacks however is the lack of wifi, edge, camera and 850.

There's a new blackjack coming out btw....
