try flashsing it from boot loader mode. i just got one with cingular firmware i unlocked it using the htc unlock software which downgrades the radio then i reflashed it upgrading to the latest firm ware from the htc site then i ran the schap's 4.00 wm6 upgrade

No problems. But I only got my 8525 on Tuesday and flashed it on Thursday. So I had not installed any third party apps or meddled with it too much. Took 10 minutes or so.

Check out the FAQ's in upgrading your 8525 HERE:
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/96642...E%3A+WM6+Update...

You leave the 8525 Connected after it goes to the 4 colors, but you need to re-start Active sync and just let it sit there. The upgrade will start.

Wirelessly posted (ATT 8525: HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Would it help to "Clear Storage" before upgrading?

does anybody's phone lag like none other now since the wm6 update?

so im *not* the only one who had that.. i went wm6 on my 8525 and it was soo slow.. waking it up took so long that i would accidentally press the button a second time and put it back to sleep.. screen re-orientation was unbearably slow, it would get stuck and wait then go. i couldnt even find anything i really had a use for in wm6.. i liked the eyecandy, but the rest wasnt really useful to me, so i searched around and found all these things saying you cant downgrade, then xda i think it was had some long complicated way of going about doing it, but i figured id just try to use a wm5 rom with no other changes (since 8525s are only $99 on premier anyway) and it worked great... put on a custom grey theme, and it couldnt be better

Here's the official AT&T link to WM6:

AT&T 8525/WM6

I suggest you first download & save the upgrade from the HTC website to your PC or disc. It'll no longer be available after 01/2008. I can see reinstallation as being a possibility because it does have some apparent bugs & drawbacks.

You should deactivate all power-saving features on your device & PC during installation.

You can write in Word/WM6 as you did in WM5. Supposedly you can read new features from Word 2007 docs.

I'm disappointed in the upgrade. It is much slower, especially in web-surfing & scrolling, which frequently freezes in "Desktop View."

The email HTML features only apply to incoming mail.

Music & video features are mostly promos or under 1 minute.

Has anyone else noticed the device does not manually send email, or go to the web, if the wrong connection is active? I find myself changing to/from MEdia Net/My ISP. Auto-timed email rarely occurs.

The Solitaire game is corrupt. The new Windows Update feature has yet to update anything. The "My Location" feature in Google Maps no longer works as it did in WM5.
