Tilt USB-Modem drivers?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

I connected the Tilt to my computer as a USB-Modem and it worked. The drivers were included on the CD that came with the Tilt.

Instead of carrying the CD with me everywhere I would like to copy the drivers to a USB-Drive.

Where are the drivers on the CD? I only see for Vista (32bit&64bit) - nothing for Windows XP.

Thanks!

search the disk for dll and it will lead you there.

Are there separate drivers? I don't remember using the cd for my 8525, just installed active sync.

The only DLLs are in the Setup folder:

msvcm80.dll
msvcp80.dll
msvcr80.dll
msvcr80d.dll
OppoGSD.dll

I checked them online and they are for something else.

Under device manager I checked the drivers for the "HTC USB Modem" and it says:

Driver Publisher: HTC Corporation
Driver Date: 3/29/2007
Driver Version: 6.0.0.1

When I click "Driver Details" I have two files:
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\Modem.sys
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbser.sys

Later I will try to set it up on a different computer without the CD to see if it would work.

Thanks!

The driver files for Vista 32bit worked fine for XP 32bit.

The files are:

USBMDM.inf
wlphonecv.cat

I will copy them over to the storage card of the Tilt.

Now remains the issue of how to transfer them to a new computer in order to install them. I found this app which I plan to test:

http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/

It turns your WM6 device into a USB Drive.

THANKS TO ALL FOR THE HELP!!!

when i turn on the WModem my tilt , my xp machine prompts me for drivers for the HTC modem. I point to the drivers on the CD that came with the tilt specified above but windows will not take them. It asks me for usbser.sys and wants that only. i found that one from the internet bla bla and it installs.

but when i dial #777 i see on my phone a the boxes turn blue that data is sending but my xp maching hangs at "dialing...."

this stuff is useless. these machins are .net compatible, i already made a proxy server in c# and i can connect to my phone over 169.254.2.1

the only thing that sucks is my proxy server i coded only works for http not https. And as for all my other apps on my machine, i would need to create a custom port relay for each.

can anoone help me with simply dialing into my 600$$$$ phone??????????????????

Hmmm.....

How do you get to the point where the system asks you for the usbser.sys???

If I "start" the WModem and then connect it to a computer (for the first time) , a driver installation procedure starts. At that point you need an .INF file not a .SYS file. Where do you point the installation procedure to?

------------------

As far as establishing a Dial-Up Connection (assuming AT&T UNLIMITED DATA PLAN with TETHERING - what I have):
start the New Connection Wizard -->
Bla bla -->
Dial-Up -->
ISP Name: anything you want -->
Tel #: "*99#" -->
Username (all CAPS): "ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM" -->
Password: (all CAPS): "CINGULAR1" -->
confirm password -->
Finish -->
press dial button -->
BINGO

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE LOGIN INFO WILL CHANGE IF YOU HAVE A DATA PLAN DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE I HAVE - you might be charged a HUGE amount of money if you use the wrong one - I think $0.01 per KB.
For example I know some other plans have to use "WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM" DO A SEARCH BEFORE TRYING

If anyone understands this better please explain.

Let me know how it went.
