I have the LX and I love it but I think all the pre-loaded message alerts stink......I have added themes etc and this is only a phone for me for text and picture messaging..........

HOW CAN I PUT MY OWN MESSAGE ALERT ON THE DEVICE?

The stuff that is from the their download catalog are all ghetto in nature..and just...well I can't stand them I want to make my own...I am used to using audacity to make my own town for my other 2 phones......

HOW DO YOU DO IT FOR THE LX?

I am afraid that I am simply going to be told you cannot do it......but as a computer techie I refuse to believe their is not a way to hack and patch and put on ur own alert sound for your incoming text messages

From what I understand you have to be a developer for danger. Involves a process of writing them a sample program, and if they think you are good enough, they will give you a key. With the key you will be able to load your own stuff onto the sidekick.

I am not 100% sure that is the process of getting the key, or how hard/easy it is to get one. But having a developers key will be the only way. If you're a computer techie, then you should know how to program and will be quickly on your way. If not, you will be using what is in the catalog for the rest of the time you own that sidekick. But there is no way to trick the sidekick, send a ringtone via mms, etc. Plain out wont work and has been tried 1000s of times I bet.
