This has been a difficult question to find an answer for. When will the SL45 be available in the United States and how much will it be?

well .. if siemens makes a trimode or gsm1900 version of it .. expect it in north america soon .. other than that, i can't comment ... they do have a SEPERATE mp3 player now ... so they may NEVER make a US version of the SL45 ...

for sure the SL45 won't come to N.America.
I think Siemens won't make here as their target market.

The S40 has GSM1900, all becoz siemens took over bosch and just continue the products.

I wish the NEC or panasonic ones come instead

the only good thing about sl45 is its mp3 player, nothing more! shape: weird, no internal antenna: more radiation, screen: big and scratchy with non blue illumination like s40, and the software is very slooow, battery time: real suck, a day to talk only, few hours to hear mp3 only, sorry guys, but i had sl45 before s40, so i can tell u this, s40 goretto desu nee!

The SL45 is a very nifty looking phone, unfortunately its only 900/1800 frequencies. When I found that out, my interest on the phone just dropped out. When I found out there was a SL40 coming, I took a closer look, but it looks NOTHING like the SL45 unit at all.

Aside from that, here's hoping that they produce a 900/1900 or a world version of the SL45. MP3 player or not.

hahaha, get WHAT from your pocket, gungu?...joking

I know it is painful when phone in your pocket has antenna, especially, when you sit down it hurts some of your BODY PARTS.

the ericssons T- series's felt-pen antenna has big problem with it.

my experience of using SL45, it was expensive, about $475 in my country, have 2 buy another MMC so that i can listen 2 more songs, the quality of the earpiece is high, but the playing animation in s40's memo is better. i dont like the crabbish light it has, it loads rather slow. i would rather use a separate phone and a separate mp3 player, costs about the same anyway so i can maximize my talktime than.

and 4 s40: i got it for about $270, including data cable and CD software plus international warranty, looks cool with iMac style on the rear, i love the blue illumination, so freshy, and it has no antenna! so my things back there were fine.

H.L. , d y think siemens is going to upgrade their software soon, i wont be bother to upgrade it now than, so that i can wait 4 another one.

as I know...3.2.0 is the most updated version. Siemens claims it make more stable and longer battery life.

I am going to update it in Hong Kong maybe next week or later.

If I am you, I will wait until S40 fully release and support in N.America, then do the update. S40 will be avaliable everywhere pretty soon in here, so be patient, coz I don't suggest people MAIL their phones to unknown place.

The firmware I am using now is an antique...haha..like March-April version...still no problem.
