Hello.

I have an issue with the AT&T Tilt. During calls, after a few moments the backlight turns off and I cannot see anything. So to press any key or do anything while talking, I have to press the power button for a second or two to show the screen again.

Any setting anywhere to have the screen remain constantly on while talking or to turn the screen off after a custom, specified amount of time?

One of the many small reasons I may return my Tilt. thsi phone is starting to bug me more everday I have it.

I typically set the backlight timeout to 3 minutes (rather than the 30 sec default) while on battery. Of course, this does cause higher battery drain, but I've trained myself to turn the phone off when I'm done.

Note you'll also want to change the power off time--I set that to 5 minutes to make sure that when the backlight dims, I can tap the screen to prevent the unit from shutting down.

Hello.

Yes, that is really annoying, and really inconvenient during phone calls.

I tried setting the backlight timeout to 3 minutes and the power off time to 5 minutes, but the actual screen still dims off completely within 30-40 seconds while on the call with someone, and it can be turned back on only when pressing the power button.

Good news, search the forum, there is a link to a tweak @ xdz developers that disables this nasty little feature. I downloaded and installed it and it works great. It also allows some additional registry changes. So far its been perfect. The thread I believe is in this forum.

I have been able to revive the fast screen save by moving the Jog Wheel during the call. It brings the screen back temporarily if I want to see it. With that available, fast shut off doesn't bother me anymore. What's worse is that Windows Mobile Live crashes the Tilt when it goes to screen save. I had to remove it.

I never tried the wheel. I'll try it again, because I'm really apprehensive about installing anything on this thing.

I know how you feel. I was leary to install the tweak but the backlight issue was driving me crazy. I decided to try it after reading the info on the above link and its great. I am no longer tempted to return the phone. Try it, you'll be glad you did. Apparently changing the backlight settings without turning off the fast sleep during calls has no effect.

Thanks all; trying this now. Luvmygadgets - it actually doesn't install I think, but simply runs every time you run it. Thus, to use it you run it, and then exit it when you're done. You can delete the 2 files directly anytime and that will remove it.

Kelisasnail, try uninstalling via ActiveSync [if you have already tried the uninstall on your device directly].

That ish gets really annoying, and when I use the jog wheel, it turns the volume up or down when the screen comes back on. LoL

Okay folks...I'm trying to download this tweak, but I don't know why the .zip is not showing up when I'm trying to find the .zip file I just downloaded onto my phone! It says it's downloaded when I go to redownload it, but it's not being found.

Am I doing it wrong? Where am I supposed to save it?

[EDIT] Nevermind. I think I may have figured it out...LoL
