at&t 8525 w/WinMo6

OK. My at&t 8525 (Hermes 100) worked perfect with Windows Mobile 5... when it went into "device off", wifi kept running, WinMo ran fast, etc. Now I decided to put Windows Mobile 6 on, even though "if it aint broke dont fix it"... so now.. it runs sluggish.. very sluggish. And the most obnoxious part is the fact that wifi keeps disabling as soon as it goes into "device off" and all my internet connected apps disconnect, and its a major pain in the ***.. is there at least a way to change the wifi disconnection issue? The slowness is something I can live with (i did it forever on my samsung blackjack)
