Need some advice

I virginized my 1.02 phone and when I tried to upgrade to 1.1.1. I bricked it. It keeps givin error 1011 when I try to restore. I have an appointment today at an apple store w/ their genius support.
What should I tell them so I dont give away it was an unlocked phone?
My plan was to take it with the unactivated att sim and tell them I tried to update before activating. I have onle had it a month.
Thoughts?????

Are you sure you bricked the phone? Also, when you virginized the phone, did you check if you did it properly? Did you look at the IMEI number and make sure the one in the software matches the number on the back of the phone?

I did not check IMEI but when I was done the virginize the phone still worked it just did not have T-Mobile icon on the screen so I assumed it went OK. From there I connected to itunes and cant even restore.

Are you running PC or Mac? Maybe I can help you out remotely - Can you put your phone into restore mode at least?

I am running on a PC. The phone only shows an icon of the connector cable with itunes. I press and hold buttons to get to recovery and it will not do anything. I tried restoring at an apple store last night and the same error 1011 comes up.

the 1011 comes up on the computer or the phone? So when you're restoring, you're linking to the old 1.0.2 firmware right? Sorry for asking so many questions - I'm just trying to get to exactly where you are, I know you're frustrated...

correct. The error comes up on itunes after trying to restore. The phone is running 1.02 firmware. I was trying to virginize, upgrade to 1.1.1 and then jailbreak and unlock.

oh....That' COMPLETELY NORMAL! The reason you're getting that error is cause iTunes can't downgrade the BB...you have to go in manually downgrade it.. Now, just run wiNstaller to take it out of restore mode, activate and jailbreak it.

are you saying the virginize process did not fix IMEI? Once I run wInstaller will I still be in 1.02?
Where is wInstaller?

did you download the 1.0.2 firmware file, or are you just pressing RESTORE?

pressing restore. That is the only option I have. itunes is discovering phone in recovery mode and prompts the restore.

omg! i have a bricked iphone or at least i think so. my phone can't be restored giving 1011 error and i think i have no baseband. what should i do? can i still return it to att even after the i bricked it? it is within 14 days.

What do you mean you think you bricked it? Either you did or you didn't. What did you do to the phone?
