Just got my K770i. A review!

Finally, I got the phone I've been looking for since July.
I'm quite satisfied though I have big disappointment on the display/screen since I expected the quality will be as superb as S500i/W580i's. Well it is superb, but the reproduction of white color sucks. It's so yellowish.
However, the contrast production of the display is as superb as S500i/W580i I reviewed here earlier (about 3 months ago). Follow the link below. There are plenty of screen shots of S500i display there.

K770i, still in the same league, has a very decent screen. It's bright and saturated, very sharp, and has high contrast. Please keep in mind that it's QVGA in a 1.8" screen (yes, it's 1.8", not 1.9" as they always say in reviews). It's as smallish as W880i. Exactly the same physical size, but with higher brightness and contrast level. And of course, with an awesome viewing angle and great readability while outdoor.
S500i to the left. K770i to the right.

These pics below show the yellowish white color of K770i display. It's quite annoying to see the white color reproduction that yellowish.

Enough about the display (that's always been my favorite part when reviewing a phone).
Well.. anyway.. I'm glad that the camera quality really meets my expectation.
Not the best, but is really appropriate for daily use, even in low light condition.
One thing that blows me away is the quality of the front camera. It's awesome! Really, really 8 times better than K800i. I'm saying the truth and I'm serious. The VGA camera really offers good quality pic for video call. The color reproduction is alive. Noise level is average for a VGA camera, but the light sensor is very good.
Speakerphone is very loud. If you play music in File Manager of Music Player, the sound comes out from the speaker doesn't sound as loud as S500i/W580i. But it's definitely amongst the loudest SE phones speakers. Ringtone, in the other hand, is very loud.
Earpiece is better than S500i. You can hear your caller's voice clearer, with better vocal and louder volume.
What else? Design! Yes, I LOVE THE DESIGN. It's so sleek and elegant, so simple and thin, and very light to hold. The brown color is awesome. It has gold yet natural feel. Like a dark wood. Really love it.
OK.. here are the pics. I lent my Canon to my cousin who's traveling in Europe, so I just took the pics with K800i. The color of the body is LESS reddish anyway than what you're seeing in the pics below.

Pics taken with K770i.
Night shot is quite decent.

Daylight shot is very good although sometimes you get some yellowish images.

Some pics when cloudy.

And a macro shot.

*Pics were only resized with Photoshop. No further retouch.
I'll add more as soon as I take more pics.

Thanks, good review. How do you find using the left and right buttons on the d-pad? Also, hows the battery life so far?
Posted by: Amras
Battery life is better than S500i and I found it also slightly better than K800i even though the screen is much brighter.
D-Pad is fine. I don't think the issue of T650 D-Pad occurs here.

i've got a K770 I'm selling on eBay at the moment. This was the first SE phone I've handled since my K750 and I'm rather sad to report that SE phones still have a cheap, plasticy and hollow feeling to them. I wish they'd sort this out once and for all! The K770 really felt like a toy when I picked it up, which is sad because it's a very nice looking phone.

is the keypad similar to the K750i or K800i? or some other se?
Posted by: Amras
What does it mean by "similar" anyway? About convenience using the keypad, I found it really convenient. It's large, well-spaced, not hard to press (unlike K750i which is hard to press).

I was going to pick one of these up, but changed my mind once I handled one in the store.
Sucks to see that the screen is smaller, and the colors come out like that. I do like the look of it though.

pics look nice...but 1.8" is a bit too small for my liking
*sum1 needs to cleanup their keyboard....lol

Can you post some full sized 3mp shots that the camera takes?
