i was trying to download some of the customize stuff for my phone and it said some kinda error. so i close installer and the phone went all black so i rebooted it thats when it started to go crazy. after it came back on the screen was still black and the only thing i could do was open the 'dock' from the bottom right and scroll through the items but still then it wouldnt do anything but freeze. so again rebooted and this time black and white horizontal lines filled up the screen flickering on and off repeatedly. finally i just let the phone sit there and it loaded to the oem home screen but wouldnt open any programs. the screen would go all black then back to icons for atleast 10 minutes. i finally restored it back to 1.02. anyone have problems like this or know what was wrong?

EXACTLY the same thing happened to me just now. *sigh* I had a nice set up too! I manually entered DFU mode and am restoring it as we speak. Gotta put it back to 1.0.2 again I guess. At least I don't have to re-virgnize and re-unlock when I upgrade back to 1.1.1.

The lesson is not to mess around with the unofficial sources for Installer I guess...hahah cuz I was downloading Customize stuff off of one of those.

I have the same issue.

I narrowed it down that it was something that I loaded through Installer.

Now here is the best part...I can't get this thing to recognize any USB plugged into it, and I can't get it to charge either so it's gone dead.

Any ideas?

I am going to assume I am somewhat limited on my fix options because I use a windows pc and not a mac?

I am trying to do the reinstall as I type...

I wouldn't say that you are limited - If it won't recognize the USB, it might be a hardware issue. Have you tried putting the phone into the forced restore mode (Hold down the Home and Standby buttons until the screen goes blank, and then let go of the standby button while holding the Home button for another 10 seconds). Turn your speakers on and let me know if you hear the "device connect" tone in windows.

That's also known as "DFU mode". Only way to get yourself out of that doodle...

My phone's all restored and happily running on 1.1.1, but beware of rogue sources! They may not all be fully 1.1.1 compatible yet....or iPhone compatible at all for that matter...haha

Okay...It took a few hours but I finally got it back up and running.

I can't remember the exact steps that I took, but I had to do quite a few since I let the thing die before I attempted to reinstall it.

Rather than upgrading it to 1.1, I just left it back down at 1.02, as I didn't want to take any risk of it locking again and not able to get it fixed.

Couldn't have done it without the help of everyone here on the forum, so thank you all!.
