Media Player error with storage card?

Hi,

I ran a search an couldn't find any previous thread on this.

I'm running WM6 on a Cingular 8525 (Tytn/Hermes). I have placed some music files in the 'my music' folder on the sotrage card in my pda. I can open the folder with File Explorer on my mobile and see the files. If I open any one of them, it launches Windows Media Player and plays the song. However, when the song is done, I have to go back to File Explorer and open the next one to get it to play. This is tedious while trying to jog...

Now, when I open Windows Media Player first, and select 'library' and then select 'storage card' I get 'An unexpected error occurred' and nothing happens. If I tell it to update library, it detects some files (it doesn't specify what files or where they are located) but does not import any of the files from the storage card. If I use the "open file" command and point it to the 'My Music' folder on the storage card, I see all of the music files, and it puts the music symbol beside them but if I select 'update library' it still doesn't import them. I can use the 'queue up' command for each file on it's own, but again, this is very inconvenient.

I tried putting some of the mp3's in the 'my music' folder on the device, then selecting 'update library.' It works.

The storage card is working fine. I can access stuff there no problem, including having WM player accessing the My Music folder to play each individual file or to queue them up. The WM Player seems to be working fine other than adding media files from the my music folder on the storage card. Arg...

Anyone else have a similar difficulty? Anyone aware of a fix?

Thanks for your help.

MM

You should post such questions in the main forum. There's an easy fix for that, i.e. your medialibrary file has been corrupted. There's no need to delete the music files and or re-sync them, close media player, then simply open your file explorer on the phone, go to the storage card, select in the menu "Show All Files", then you would see a folder MSMETADATA, then inside that folder delete the XMEMediaLibrary file (you could delete the whole folder as well). Then start media player again and update/create the library, all should be good after that.

I have just purchased a Lexar sd micro and the phone recognises that it is there but when I try to sync from Windows Media on my desktop, it doesn't recognise the storage card. It does however recognise my phone. I HAVE THE SPRINT MOGUL and Windows Vista on desktop. If anyone could please help... I have searched the threads but could not find anything.
