Any word on x64 support for iPhone? That's the only thing I am wishing for, for christmas!!!!

I assume this release is unlocker friendly? no issues with current iphones that have been unlocked or still running 1.02 firmware, etc....

Anyone running 1.1.1 unlocked/jailbroken -- and tried to sync or restore with iTunes 7.5?

Yea, i am curious as well... anyone?!

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

Someone should try it if it doesnt work you can just uninstall it and go back to the last version.

Just trying syncing and worked just like i thought it would. didnt try a restore but im sure that works as well

Posted by: zx6racer

So far it works fine. Syncs faster.

Posted by: MacGeek15

downloading it right now.

Posted by: MacGeek15

Works fine with my unlocked 1.1.1, and like zx6racer mentions, it DOES sync much faster. Recommend download iTunes 7.5

What if apple is gonna pull something off?? Like when ever you sync it sends who and what syncs and could get you in the *** by canceling your warranty or the other persons warranty? What if this is what apple wants and something could happen to your iphone?

Nahhh, that couldn't happen. . .

that's just asking for a lawsuit buddy! i DOUBT that will EVER happen

Yep. Thats why I said "Nahhh, that couldn't happen. . .".

Posted by: MacGeek15

if you're using Mac, don't download if you're unlocking iPhones

Independence does NOT support iTunes 7.5 as it fixes exploits with TIFF, hence NO JAILBREAKING!!

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

If iTunes 7.5 doesnt work for you can download older versions here:

Windows:

Mac:
http://www.oldapps.com/download_iTunes_mac.php

Posted by: cam'ron

Yeah, doesn't work with independence...not good. Anyone know how to uninstall itunes?

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

It will work fine with any unlocked phone, but you must know that if you plan to use iNdepedence for jailbreaking then you shouldn't update to 7.5.

iNdependence users don't upgrade to iTunes 7.5. Looks like Apple removed the private functions needed for jailbreak from the MobileDevice framework. Time to find another way in... Quoted from the iNdependence site: http://code.google.com/p/independence/

REASON:
It's because the update replaces the AppleMobileDevice.dll file.

Just download an old version of the .dll, or whatever file it is on the mac, and you're off.

Has anyone tried using wiNstaller on 1.0.2 to jailbreak / install / activate? Only reason I'm asking this is that wInstaller asks for iTunes to be running at the beginning.

Why would you want to use wInstaller for 1.1.1 when you can just SHH?

Posted by: Drakkhen

Not 1.1.1 - for people who want to stick with 1.0.2 - I have a few friends who still do that. It'd be crappy if they upgraded to 7.5 of iTunes and all of a sudden, all that they know about installing 3rd party applications go out the window. Could be more than what their un-technical minds can handle! Plus, I would be flooded with calls after work!!!

Teach them how to SHH its easy and if its the current method even with 1.0.2.

You're using a Mac so just drag iTunes to Trash and then remove the dock iTunes icon. Done and done

I just want to know if it will work with wiNstaller on 1.0.2!!! I don't want to teach 7 people how to use iTunes!

You, out of anyone out there should know the more you help people, the more they want your help! I do not want to be a proactive catalyst and start causing pain and suffering.

Thats just what I would do because once they update to 1.1.1 there gonna have to use SHH and future firmwares they way its looking right now.

Posted by: Drakkhen

They're not upgrading to 1.1.1 - that's the whole reason of why I'm asking the question...no worries, I'll just try it myself later.

I ended up doing that, I thought it would be tougher than most programs (stupid MS thinking, try and remove one of their programs). I also thought their would be files in the system folder that might need deleting, boy was I wrong. Couldn't have been any easier.

The awesome simplicity of the MAC!

dragging to the trash doesn't remove everything, preference files and iTunes helper files still remain. The best way to uninstall on a mac is to use appzap.
