Is It Actually Possible to Connect a Motorola V3m?

I have installed VCAST from Verizon. When I connect my phone to the computer:
1) the phone says "unauthorized charger";
2) MS Windows plug and play says attempting to install;
3) attempts to install "Motorola V3m" and fails there.
Here is what I have done:
A) I have tried the same on three different computers (all MS XP SP2);
B) I have replaced the cable;
C) I have replaced the phone;
D) I have installed the latest driver from the Motorola web site.
All to no avail.
When I purchased (and when I replaced) the phone, those nice people at Verizon assured me that the phone would connect to a computer, and that would be easily demonstrated if I purchased the VCAST software.
I regret to report that both Verizon and Motorola "support" have been totally useless.
Any insight to this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes it's possible to connect it. I used to have a v3m prepaid from Verizon a while ago, never used the VCAST software, and it connecte fine for me, all I had to do was connect it and go through the usual USB pop-up dialog boxes. Then I did a couple SEEM edits (to enable USB transfer) and put music onto the phone and onto my minisd using windows media player.
Sorry I cannot tell you HOW to get it to work, but can confirm that it's possible.
BTW: I'm on Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Try downloading P2K drivers and point to the folder you have them in when the install dialog box comes up.

It's possible. If you go that route BE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR PHONE'S DATA. I bricked a phone and NO ONE in this forum knows how to fix my phone and it's circumstances without a SMARTclip or any similar advice. Do a little browsing for P2KSeem, Motorola USB drivers, Motorola Software Update (MSU)(depending on your service provider, just download what you can from the provider...i.e., MSU only had the Motorola Q software) and dowload the update. It'll take some time at first but when you're done you can use that software (msu) and P2K Seem together to do a Phone ID edit (Verizon flashes the phone to a V3C instead of leaving it with the V3M, in the end, the Verizon phone will be a V3Cm). After that you can ebay the Motorola Phone Tools 4.0 to add in your own (free) riners, pics and all the other hoopla. Good luck and please don't do the "Alltel Flash", all the tutorials in here and on the internet are wrong..."to the T". (Hence my bricked phone)

Thanks for all of the interest and help.
After all of the above, the phone still hangs waiting to connect to the computer.

hey... about hooking up the v3m. I have a different provider than you, but I had an issue like that when I started out.
The problem was the drivers I had installed were bad...
I had to uninstall all drivers related to the phone.
Get the right drivers (hacktherazr had links where I found them, but I can't remember which site I got them from)
Install driver, THEN plug the phone in. The phone should not be plugged in until the drivers have been installed.
P.S. I don't know anything about VCAST, but MPT has been very good to me. Although if you want to use all the features on a verizon phone, I believe it has to be seem edited... or maybe that was cingular. At any rate, cleaning the slate, and starting fresh, is always a good idea. Took me a while to figure that out.
Good luck
P.S. It definitely is possible. I am speaking to you right this moment through my v3m hooked up as my modem...
