Hey I am interested on getting an Iphone. Probably get it for xmas. Question is I am in Canada and rogers. Is it safe to unlock the Iphone I keep hearing that Apple can automatically update the Iphone and make your unlocked Iphone not work. Also do any features not work due to Iphone being unlocked and is a Unlocked Iphone user missing out on much compared to newer updated firmwares?

The update is your choice, when you connect to iTunes it will ask you if you would like to update, just push cancel until someone has did it and posted good or bad ideas for unlocked iPhone members, as far as losing features, correct me if I am wrong anyone, the only one you lose is the Visual Voicemail. Everything works like a charm!

I live in Vancouver and with rogers. I just got my iphone 2 days ago. Twenty minutes after arriving home it was unlocked using the jailbreakme method. Was so easy and everything other than visual voicemail works perfectly.

re rogers, unless you are willing to pony up for a big data plan this phone is not for you; to really achieve its potential you need data besides wifi IMHO
