Incoming SMS msgs...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is there a way to turn off the incoming SMS msgs that show up on my screen. Sometimes I let a "friend" use my phone, and I don't want him to see any questionable text messages when he's playing a game, or talking on it. I would just like for there to be a notification of a new msg coming in, but not having it displayed for anyone who may be using my phone to see.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Your cracking me up...

Start Menu >> Settings >> Sounds & Notifications >> Notifications tab >> Event: "Messaging: New text message"

Then uncheck "Display message on screen". Leave Play sound and/or Vibrate as you please.

OR

Stop receiving "questionable" text messages LOL.

LMAO Hey, I can't help what others send me. And he's the jealous type, too.

I had no idea all those things were on there. LoL Thanks!

Haha, good luck with all that

LMAO Thanks, I think.

LOL this is how my iPhone got me in trouble with my GF. Problem is, on the iPhone there is no way at all to stop the incoming SMS from being plastered right in the middle of your screen! Needless to say thats one of the reasons I have the Tilt and am contemplating sellin my iPhone.

LoL See, I'm not the only one!

If he really wants to know I don't think disabling the on screen notification is going to stop him haha. BUT I get where you are going with this

Posted by: aggie99

at least it doesn't post pictures in the picture messages on the screen. Then I'd really be screwed

LoL He's not the type that would go into my unread messages, but if something popped up on the screen...yeah, you know what I mean.

I have a lot of male friends, and some of them are men that I've dated, so yeah...wouldn't want any drama just even seeing a name. LoL

a trick i have learned is to disguise the name with one of another gender. for example if i meet a girl named jenn at the bar well it is entered as "john" from work. i put work to remind me its someone ive met at the bar since usually when im at the bar my GF thinks im working. lol no wonder im almost 31 and never married

LMAO Um, I'm 31...no kids, never married (but was in an 8 yr relationship). It's not that bad! Hahaha

I've thought of doing that, but I have 250 contacts in my phone...I'd just confuse myself. I'd be going through my phone like, "Um, who the hell is Jenn from the gym?" When it's really a guy named Jeff that I met out somewhere. Hahaha

Posted by: aggie99

see that's why i don't get married! Too difficult to hide things. At least with the Tilt though my GF wouldn't know where to begin to look for numbers. Always an advantage to a complex phone. She used to go through my iPhone all the time though

Posted by: luvmygadgets

ROFL Poor Aggie. That's the way he is with my phone. I told him to use it the first time I got it, and he looked at me like I was crazy. Hahaha
