ive recently bought an iphone using all my pocket money (i mean ALL of it)... The phone i bought was unlocked by a shop keeper in dubai, where i was spending my vacations... Later tht same day after the phone had been completely chrged i hooked it up to a computer in the hotel to inorder to upload a few songs, itunes asked me if i wanted to update the iphone so i clicked on yes just because i thought tht it might remove a few of the glitches.... Now my problem is tht i have a brand new un-scratched iphone tht is not working and i have tried almost every way to unlock it, so i wud really appreciate it if someone cud give me the detailed directions to unlock my iphone or even a decent link to a thread tht has every detail on unlocking an iphone.... So PLZ HELP me........

Everything you need to know is on this forum in the Stickies - it looks like you bricked your phone, OR you just upgraded it and it just needs to be jailbroken / activated again.

First thing: Let's see if you bricked it for sure. hit the (i) icon in the activation screen and have a look at what the IMEI number is. If it matches the IMEI number on the back of your phone, then you're lucky, and all you have to do is jailbreak the unit. If your IMEI number is NOT the same, then you'll have to downgrade the BB, re-virginize, downgrade the firmware and go through a unlocking process.

Do you have WIFI where you are?

1. Downgrade Firmware back to 1.0.2
2. Activate 1.0.2
3. Re-virginize iPhone
4. Re-load firmware 1.0.2
5. Activate and update to 1.1.1
6. Activate 1.1.1 and Load Anysim 1.1
7. Unlock iPhone

All instructions are in the stickies. Just put all the steps I mentioned together

Ok so thank u for reading my msg and btw drakkhen i do have wifi in my home and im goin to go check the stickies to see if i can get my phone unlocked oh and yeah i found out tht my imei does match the thing on my box...
