ok,so when i got my phone it was a factory 1.1.1 phone,i restored it and downgraded to 1.0.2 without touching the baseband and leaving it at version 4...then i jailbroke and installed anysim1.1 and after running that it said my phone was unlocked and i'm showing a "carrier" setting in general,but it doesnt show the carriers name and it said "no service".

then i read that the phone had to be activated with the new sim and not the at&t one,so i did a restore but apptapp wasnt working and i couldnt get carnaval to work (no wifi and i've still got my dead strip problem blocking part of installer) so i ended up using wINstaller first to activate and then jailbreak and now it's saying "no service" and when i turn it on it's waiting for at&t activation..

how should i get service on this thing?if i MUST do the carnaval method with install i'll have to wait until i get the touch screen replaced and i'm ok with that,i'm just wondering if there's any way to get this working as it is.when i tried carnaval i had to make an emergency call to get in and when i do that the call button is part of my dead strip that's not working.i'd like to just have this thing unlocked before i send it to have the screen replaced.if not,i'll understand.thanks for the help,guys!

1. You didn't downgrade the baseband, of course it will not WORK! Now you need to revirginize the iPhone

2. It always says Carrier in the settings if you haven't noticed that prior to unlocking

Re-do everything again. Re-virginize the iPhone, then reload 1.0.2 firmware again, update to 1.1.1, activate and unlock

also,why would i have to start off with 1.0.2 if i'm just going to update to 1.1.1? couldnt i just load 1.1.1 on it and jailbreak and unlock it then?if i run the virginizer do i have to run onesim or just virginize? thanks for the help everyone!
