i hear a beep right after i dial a number

is this a setting in the iphone?

when i dial out, i hear a beep, then the dialing. someone told me it was a phone setting but i can't find the setting on the iphone to turn it off.

in addition, when i take my sim card out and put it in another phone, i still hear the beep.

any help would be appreciated.

What kind of a beep is it? is i like a call waiting beep, or some other tone?

I don't hear any beeps after I dial the number. I just hit Call, and the call goes through.

Are you sure it's not your bluetooth headset?

hi. yep i have visual voicemail. in addition, it happens sometimes, 1 out of every 4 calls. when this happens, sometimes i hear an echo (hearing myself speak).
