For any of you Windows Mobile converts out there, is it just me or does Windows Live Search beat the holy crap out Google Maps Mobile? Now they have voice recognition. Very innovative feature from Microsoft. I cant believe that Apple and Google havent done this yet for the Iphone. Also has movie times, gas prices, and bluetooth GPS support. Killer App in my opinion that would be perfect for Iphone.

You are not making a fair comparison.
Yes, WLS beats Google Mobile maps, but thats because WLS is not only maps software.
It's bulky and has quite high overhead from my experience.

Fair question is, does WLS beat Google.com?
IMO, the answer is no, but opinions differ of course.

One thing I think Live Local/maps/whatever has Google totally beat in is bird's eye view. It's so amazing!

To make it even better, its quite recent data!

Bird's eye view >> Aerial

There's not a bird's eye view for the Blackberry version yet, just plain aerial. Oh well. I think Live does some things better and some things worse then Google. I guess it's best to have both Google Maps and Live depending upon what you want to do.

Agreed, both would be the best option.

Birdseye is quite good although chances are, it's just a matter of time till google does something similar.

Yes, WLS is terrific with the voice recognition. Everyone who's seen it is impressed.

This past weeked we needed the phone number for an Olive Garden twenty miles away. One guy with regular Google Maps starting tapping away on his keyboard.

Another simply clicked a button on his Treo and said "Olive Garden near Secaucus New Jersey" and up came a list. He clicked to dial it and that was that.

I also like WLS's categories. Makes it easier to look up stuff as well.

Now if they'll just add Weather and make the menus a little bigger to click on, it'll be hard to beat.

I agree with having both. Unfortunately, you better believe that WLS will not be appearing on any iphones in the near future. Thats why I was hoping that Google could make some updates. BTW, Google Maps and WLS do a lot of the same things. They both offer maps, gps intergration, traffic, turn by turn, etc. WLS has one-upped them this time.
