Switching to P/T?

I have a question for everyone out there. I'm currently a full time employee and I want to switch to part time and transfer to another store closer to home. The store I want to go to has a part time opening, I've been with the company for 4 years now and I'm in a union state. Well, apparently I am not able to post out. Management keeps preventing me by saying "after the holidays". I'm being held back becuase I am the only person in my store that knows what they are doing, even when you take into account the management. Who would I need to contact about my transfer? I want to get this done before the position gets filled. I mean if they want to keep me in my location till after the holidays thats fine, but I want to post for the position I want and then let them all figure out when my transfer date will be. I seriously think it would be easier to just quit.

i would get in touch with the hr dept and also contact the mgnt from the other store and let them know the situation and that you're really interested. although, if they're hiring that position now it's likely because they feel they need the extra help during the holidays and probably won't wait...which is why you should contact hr

No the store is high volume and slated for a remodel to increase floor space early next year. That is why they are increasing staff there. Its not holiday.

The store falls under the same ARSM, but what I'm told from my managers is that they want to wait until after the holidays...... Doesnt seem right to me. If the position is open, I'm quallified, have the seniority, etc, why hold me back. Its not my fault my current store is staffed with morons.
