What's the error message?

MORE DETAILS pls.

The firmware is 1.1.1 and the error is 1011. I tried restarting itunes to no avail

What version of iTunes? What firmware were you running on the iPhone prior? Did the update unpack & quict, or did it install anything then quit? Which icon is on the phone (plug or triangle)?

itunes 7.4.3, then update to 7.5. The firmware i bought with is 1.1.1 already installed so i did not upgrade, just restore. It installs everything until the end where it displays an error 1011 and could not upgrade, The picture in the display is a plug and an itunes logo. Im in australia and cant sent back to apple. Someone please help. Btw i did jailbreak the iphone, and when the wireless starts to stop working, i restore and then this happens

I had the same problem, I just tried like 5 times and it just suddenly worked by itself.

I was having a lot of problems with trying to restore and update my phone. I was with Apple Support for 2 1/2 hrs to fix the problem. This is what we did that fixed my problem:

Go to Start -> Search -> For Files and Folders then click on All Files and Folders, then type in .ipsw. Thats the file extention for the iphone firmware.

Since I tried to update my phone to 1.1.1. I got 2 large .ipsw files, one for 1.0.2 and one for 1.1.1.

Delete those two large files then re-run the update or restore. It should work fine after that.

It worked for me.

This was on iTunes 7.4.2 I believe? The one before 7.5. and I was on Firmware 1.0.2 trying to upgrade to firmware 1.1.1.

If you're on windows, download the latest ibrickr and follow the instructions on screen. ibrickr will detect you're in recovery mode and will walk you through restoring to 1.02. After that, choose the unlock method of your choice.

I had this happen tonight and I finally found a post that fixed it. Let me know if this works for you.
