I've never actually been a fan of volvos, in my own opinion volvos are for R3T4DS that cant drive, im saying that because volvos are full of airbags, they have weak engines, they are over priced, and i dont know about you, but what i think is, why would you want to drive a car around that would only remind you that your driving one of the safest cars on the road. wouldnt the idea of having a safe car somewhat jinx you?

these are a list of standard features found on the base 2003 US S60

5 Speed Manual Transmission, Front Wheel Drive, Antilock Braking System (ABS) w/Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Driver and Front Passenger Supplemental Restraint System - Dual-Threshold Air Bags, Side Impact Air Bags for Driver and Front Passenger (SIPS Bags IITM), Inflatable Side Curtain (IC), Whiplash Protection Seating System (WHIPS), ISO-FIX Baby/Child Seat Attachment System, Security System, Stability and Traction Control (STC), Driver Seat w/Manual Tilt, Recline and Adjustable Lumbar Support, Leather Steering Wheel, Leather Gearshift Knob, Cruise Control, Outside Temperature Gauge, Dual-Zone Manual Climate Control, Power-Adjustable Heated Exterior Rearview Mirrors, Premium Audio System with Single In-Dash CD, 15-inch Alloy Wheels

I may be wrong, about the whole S60, but tell me what you think.

Ya! Go 2004 Maxima

you be the judge

have you ever drive the S60?

so your saying that you dont like a car because its SAFE?.......

BMW and MB have lots of airbags, the New 7 Series has about 12, does that make it a crappy car?

ive very confused.

Volvo has MUCH better quality then Nissan. the Volvo will last 10x longer then the Maxima.

the Volvo has timless lines, the Maxima will look very different in 5 years.

the Maxima is a nice car, but NEITHER it or the Volvo are particularly sporty. the FWD and the MASSIVE torque stear of the Maxima make it more or less 100% useless.

have you ever driven the 850R? is that not fast for you?

what about the new V60R AWD w/ 300hp?

making the maxima look like their infinities somewhat

this forum has nothing to do with the S60R, V60R, 850R,

if you want to talk about those cars, then for sure, they are faster then the maxima.

but were comparing the maxima and the S60.

comparin an S60R to a Maxima is like comparing apples to oranges.

the maxima was one of the first cars to compete against european cars, and the maxima is actually doing a good job at competin with european cars.

ever since ford bought out volvo, volvo has never been the same, cost wise.

in my own opinion volvo would be a better car if it wasnt as expensive.

the 2003 S60 and the 2004 Maxima are very close.

within 15 hp of each other, and within .5 seconds 0-60. the cars are very close to each other in terms of features, performance, etc.

also remember that the Maxima is ALL new, and the s60 is the oldest car in the current volvo lineup.

Volvo V70! get a V70 T-5 R coupe, and you'll be styling-- i think the v70 has much more classic (and classy) styling, that won't be outdated any time soon. The S60 looks like a funky taurus, imo. I've owned a Volvo 740, 850, v70, Saab 9-3, and BMW M6, and out of these, I prefer the v70.

I also talk on a v70 every day

Which, imo, is all the more reason to get the s60, because it's been arround long enough to get the bugs worked out.

Volvos also have awesome seats. Awesome.

You've owned an M6? I thought the 6- series wasn't released yet...let alone the M version...

did they have an M variant of the old 635CSi?

We just got a Volvo 850 really good quality and the best seats I've ever sat in. It feels really solid.

SWEDISH POWER!

yeah...
Volvos are really comfortable...

Posted by: hotch

I had a friend try to convince me that the seats in her Pathfinder were more comfortable. I asked her to come sit in my car, she looked very sad and said "oh... yeah, i guess you're right"

This is just speculation because I have neither driven nor sat in either car, but I have other Volvos and other Nissans, and what I can tell you is that Nissan really skimps out on interior quality and comfort to keep their prices down. Their VQ35 is a hell of an engine, but the engine doesn't make the car.

And as far as being filled with air bags.. yeah that is a good thing!! I don't know about you, but I'd rather be in a car filled with them than not if I were to get into an accident.

Volvo vs. Nissan? I don't care which model, I'd go for Volvo.

IMO, Nissan looks good but has crap quality. The new Nissan designs are new and radical now, but they will go out of style very soon.

And as for being safe, I dunno, I'd rather drive a car with no safety so I can feel cool. Maybe a carriage...
