"Upgrading" my old phone..

A bit of a long story but not too and lol. Right now i am using verizon for phone service and i am pretty happy with it so far. I still am active on my old Att family plan however and that line is now available for an upgrade.
What i am looking for is a fairly inexpensive flip phone to use as an extra. I am thinking about the refurb SYNC for only $19.99
Does anyone have any other ideas about what i should get? I am mostly interested in texting and good reception/battery.. the ususal wants lol..
