Hey everyone,

Well I dont know about you guys but I'm pretty excited about this phone.
So I thought I'd start a thread all about this phone that is just new to the world market.

I'm awaiting the arrival of my 816sh from Japan. Once I get it, i'll try and post pics up to show. I got the Vivid pink!

Has anyone here got it yet?
Which colour do you think is the nicest?
What do you think of my chances of getting it unlocked in HK or online soon??

More importantly, SHOW OFF YOURS if you've got one!!

as far as i know, this phone is not possible to be unlocked yet...

I'm sure the 816SH from Japan is locked. How about SX663 from HK or T82 from TW? Are they locked as well?

Taiwan version is confirmed unlocked on ebay.

all i have to say is that was fast. no sooner was there a thread stating it'd be available in Europe and i see it on ebay like a week or two later. if GSM was my main service provider (right now i have a free ride as far as service goes cause my mom gets verizon through work at a huge bargain) and i had the money you better believe id buy that 880sh from ebay. black

I'll get this thread rolling first by posting my new 816sh!!
It is so much slimmer and lighter than i thought. And the colour is just so nice!!
However, the camera function is locked to network....and basically the only thing i can do is the media stuff. Oh well.. until it is unlocked, the only thing it is doing is looking pretty on my table

You can still play music/video and stuff? I thought that *everything* was locked down until you did a reprovision with a Softbank USIM (for frequent travelers to Japan, that would mean renting a USIM, using it, and then claiming it lost to keep it).

Ohh my bad....music/video dont work....i kinda meant just browsing through photos....

i have a cancelled softbank sim in there but doesnt really make much difference.

I'm getting the SX663 in green when it drops a little in price. Unless the SH905i is unlocked, that is. Then I'd go for one of those instead.

Doesn't necessary mean unlockable Just means its out for sale.

You can buy the SX663 unlocked in HK, I believe. It'll cost more, though.

It's listed as $3980HKD on SmarTone Vodafone's site. So you're saying its going to cost more to get an unlocked version?

by current unlock methods... the japanese 816sh will NEVER be unlocked.

the taiwan and HK versions 880sh, tx82 sx663 are unlocked by code from the provider (leaked or stolen codes). buddy with the 816sh, you will never be able to use your phone without a softbank sim and service.

663SX is unlocked, got a friend who works in smartone who told me about it, so I would say the source is accurate?!

Hi, I'd like to know where in Europe I could buy the 880SH and if there are different firmwares for different languages. The only thing I'm thinking of is the T9 french version. The phone can be in english. But it's a burden to write french on an english T9.

There are different firmwares but it is currently impossible to flash any of these Sharp phones.

ok. so any idea where in europe the 880SH is available? it seems like here in switzerland it's not available, the carrier (swisscom) that used to sell sharp doesn't have it on its catalogue.
any idea whereelse in europe i can buy it?

boy do I look dumb. get a pss sim or similar and put it in your 816. you will be able to use it as a phone and maybe SMS will work too!

Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Portugal, Spain - the only six countries where the 880SH is officially being sold. Check the Sharp phone picture thread, I posted up a link to photobucket where I have a huge gallery of photos of that phone (menu screens galore

). Incidentally, all 880SH versions (that is, they're all Euro firmware with slight customisations for each country) come with French T9.

I believe HK phones should be fine to use, maybe those features which requires you to download from Smartone network like the HD TV functions. The rest I think shouldn't be a problem. Anyway I am trying to find out does this SX663 supports flash lite wappalers / screensavers? Thanks. Planning to get the HK version SX663.

Has anyone tried using a PSS SIM in 816sh???
I have one brand new 816sh which i've put away cos its locked. I really want to use it, or just sell it!
