I just recently purchased the SE w580 from AT&T, and trying to unlock the phone through wotanserver. I flahsed my phone with R6BC002 CID52 HK traditional version. It sucessfully flashed my phone, but when i tried to put in my Tmobile sim card, it ask me to insert the correct sim card. Can anyone help me with that?

For unlocking codes you might just try calling AT&T. With my previous phones (Sony Ericsson z520a and Motorola L6) AT&T was happy to give me the unlock code when I told them I was planning to take my phone to Vietnam and China, and wanted to use temporary sim cards purchased there.

Wotanserver is only used to debrand phones, which means getting rid of the carrier firmware to restore original SE firmware. It will not unlock the phone to be used with other carriers. For unlocking, try what the previous post above mentioned by calling AT&T. If that doesn't work, try looking up Davinci team as they provide unlocking I believe for DB2020 phones so they should be able to unlock the W580, but it won't be cheap.

OK...I just was wondering what is the benefit of debranding a phone? Other than wanting to use this particular phone for another carrier I can't see the reason behind it? Does the phone have some features that Sony put on there that some carriers take out?

Yes unbranding the phones is stock firmwares with all the capable functions that are disabled by certain service providers. such as the Mp3 Ringtone that many service provider disable.

And Wotan Server just like mention above is for flashing and not unlocking, Davinci is able to unlock your phone

any places in the greater boston or providence area i can take my phone to be flashed and unlocked? i also have a w580 but refuse to take it to iunlock in boston. i called yesterday for prices and the guy a real jerk! anywhere else but iunlock!

Posted by: evan_silbert

The person you spoke with on the phone informs me that he simply quoted you the price that is listed on our website, to which you used profanity and insulted him.

I apologize if you were unhappy, but our prices are based on our cost, risk, and time. You may pay more, but nobody else guarantees success and professional work on this variety of phones.

In the future, if you are unhappy with the price of a service, simply don't use it. There is no need to be rude to the employee who tells you the price.

k, so no1 can unlock a w580i without paying some store for the service?

Posted by: kdm212

evan its very simple. we were both rude. had we both had just been polite it would have been fine. i have had the pleasure of dealing with you and you we always stand up. its over i guess, just keep in mind that your employee only told you want he wanted you to know. the phone is flashed/unlocked and im happy.

oh ya he used profanity too...guess that doesnt matter though.

Guys,

I have debrand my w580i, then I got my unlock code from ATT, and now, it only ask me to insert correct sim card, will not let me enter the unlock code.

I think I have to flash it back to original ATT firmware to enter the code. -- can someone give me the link to download it ?

thank you.

1. For the unlocking of a locked Sony Ericsson no sim card is required.
2. Turn on the handset. Display will indicate "Insert SIM."
3. Press the left Arrow (<) button.
4. Press the star (*) button TWICE.
5. Press the left Arrow (<) button again.
6. You will briefly see one of the following messages listed on devices display:
"Personalized with MNC2" or "Personalized with MNC3".
7. Wait approximately three seconds.
8. The display will indicate "Network" and a picture of a closed lock.
9. Press Select.
10. The display will indicate "Unlock (Net) 5" and "NCK:"
11. Enter the 16 digit NLCK4U code and press okay.
12. The handset will display "Network unlocked" and the display "Insert SIM" appears.
13. The handset is successfully unlocked

if you have the code you dont need to change any firmware. Take the sim out when performing this operation.
