New Tilt (replacement) new type of battery?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I got the new tilt and the battery now has a heatsink, and it's DynaPack instead of Samsung?

I'm sending the old one back...should I keep the Samsung? Anyways, my drop issues are gone, so it was a defective Tilt in the first place.

Can we see a pic of the new battery?

Personally i would keep the new battery. If it has a heatsink it should perform better since it would run cooler. Maybe ATT may do another rebate like they did with the blackjack...

could you do me a huge favor and test ur new battery by running windows live search in GPS mode for like 5-10 mins.

this would heat up the battery and perhaps have a relation to some of the freeze ups people report.

I don't have a camera in my posession so can't take pics, sorry guys...The Tilt can't take a pic of the battery without it being in it

I've been using the phone for 2 days now, everything is great. The heat problem seems to have went a way, it doesn't get as hot as the one with Samsung battery. The drainage is still the same as the samsung, and it's probably because it's a 1300mAh battery, and this one needs a 2000mAh battery for it to last longer. I don't use Windows Live, but I do use TomTom & Google Maps with GPS enabled, and it works fine. The heat is not as bad as with the Samsung battery.

well if its not much trouble could u download it and run GPS on it (its just as easily uninstalled). So far everyone with the TILT will freeze in this program, there are no issues with the ones your currently using just Windows live search. This will determine if your battery was actually a fix to a huge problem/bug the rest of us now have with newer TILTS... If yours Can run it helps us figure out if we should get this replaced under warranty.

it isn't a new battery. I've had my Tilt 10/18 and I have a Dynapack.

The "heatsync" he is referring to is just the metal shield on one side that makes contact with some leads at all four corners of the battery compartment.

Some speculate is has more to do with RF than it does heat.

and ... umm you do have a camera ... UR Tilt ...

just take the back off your Tilt and hold it up to a mirror for a picture ... like I did.

I have one of eac and there is no diference in anything other than branding and looks.

Yeah sure, I will try it today and let you know. I did use MSLive on my "problematic" Tilt and it was working fine but I will try it again.

Just installed Windows Live, enabled GPS (It found my position)...I am able to use it without freezing. I don't know how long I should use it for?

I used TomTom today without problems and the phone didn't even get hot. I used Googlemaps with GPS yesterday, no issues.

what i think causes the freezing is that u let the GPS run, as if your driving somewhere, ffor like 10 minutes or so. The phone usually attempts to sleep in MS LIVE SEARCH, and this causes freezing when you try to click "x" and shut it off.

Let it run in MSLIVE, GPS mode, 10 mins without touching the screen. Attempt to close program.

That should do it.

This is kind of off topic but where did you get your replacement from, was it exchange by mail?

Posted by: MakaveliReturns

Yep, just tried it...it froze within 2 minutes after leaving it on.

I blame Windows Live because TomTom & Google Maps do not have these issues.

I was under the 30 days, so I was able to get a brand new one. If it is past 30 days, then you will probably get a refurbished one if you call AT&T Replacement services

aww ok, was having hopes to a fix for this but maybe it will come in an update.

Thanks for trying
