davetv77 you're the man! I'm in desperate need of an upgrade and am shamelessly prioritizing style over functionality, so i've decided i need a slider phone.

LG CU720 (Shine slider) on Nov 14th sounds just dandy to me! (hope i don't regret it, ha)

Speaking of upcoming phones, phonearena.com is reporting that the Moto RIZR Z9 is going to be carried by AT&T. Can anyone in the know confirm this?

This would affect my timing of switching to AT&T from Alltel.

^^ I recall seeing some preview pics of the z9 with AT&T branding on the phone housing. but to confirm if they will release it eventually I don't have any concrete information.

Prada.... K850.... Prada... K850...

I understand the K850 will most likely be December at the earliest, but we got info on stuff like the A737 a month ago. Since we are close to December, anything more concrete?

Same with the Prada. Told December, but isn't anyone interested in this thing? I personally feel it is slimmer and more "rich" looking than the iPhone.

I hear ya' on the black RAZR2. I also really like the RIZR- if the new one (Z9) even has a chance of coming out anytime soon to AT&T, I'd give it serious consideration.

It's very, very unlikely Motorola will release another color of the current V9. Moto is readying an updated V9 with GPS and a fully functional external screen. This model will almost certainly be a different color than red.

Enhance your calm people, release dates are usually "ship from the warehouse" dates, start asking "WTF!?!" when it's 4 days to a week after launch.

No, it's not completely wrong. I just found this story at engadget.com stating the the Shine should be available either today or in the the coming days according to sources:

It just really makes you wonder why there is so much secrecy and disinformation surrounding these phone releases... you'd think that customer interest in purchasing a product on its release date would be a good thing for ANY company to encourage and support... guess not though

the w850i that I've seen and heard about is an international triband 900/1800/1900, unless you're referring to the K850i that's a quadband and is supposedly coming out late this month from what I've been hearing(nothing concrete)

i think lg VU is very similar to the prada, a large touch screen design. just wont be called the prada.

You mean you bought one unlocked off the internet, right? The K850 isn't in AT&T hands yet...

ave you had any issues with use here in the States? Like lesser signal, etc?

Unlocked/unbranded phones usually have fewer issues than a branded one. It's always better to spend the extra money on the non-carrier subsidized version, except for when the only way to get the phone would be going through a carrier.

Yeah I got an unlocked one through a local phone importer who gave me a reasonable price. Honestly having a branded one or not hasn't made that much of a difference to me, but based on the forum I think I prefer the unbranded one.

That's a good question as I don't have the phone yet LOL. I've read about all the problems in the forums, maybe they had a recall or something.

It is?? I thought it was tri-band outside the US and another person on here said that Europe's 3G is different than ours. I was asking about the 890 when it was brought up...

I mean, if that's the case, it would work fine any place my 810 does, no? That way, I wouldn't have to wait until March.

I was using mine for a day and it picked up 3G, and it's quadband I'm sure. check out sonyericsson.com for specs

I'm a little baffled they don't get these phones out for Holiday sales. Afterall, I bet a LOT of customers sign on in December or January due to promos and either new phones released.

I know I am a December customer and I am really bummed that the K850 is looking like March. I heard that AT&T is trying pretty hard to get the VU out in December for Holiday sales at the last minute or right after. It may very well be my next phone. Hope LGs aren't as crappy as the last one I had...

Looks to me LG is really moving well and along with Samsung and a few new ones from them, it starts to look more and more like SE doesn't seem to really care. Delays on the Clamshell everyone seems to want to the K850 being pushed to March.

Maybe a bit of secrecy to get phone sales on other models done before Xmas and then they'll release the newer, cooler phones? Tell everyone K850s and VUs are coming for Xmas and they'll wait and NOT buy existing phones... Could be a marketing strategy and a benefit to those who can wait until right after.

On the other hand, holiday sales may be driven by gifts, so people buy whatever the best looking phone available at the time is, so AT&T can clear stock.

For a comparison, Apple typically releases new product updates in January, after the holidays, because they figure they can sell lots of the older products in time for christmas.
