Hey, I am completely new to the whole modding phone things, I modded a Raz r before, but the scwered it up, so I dont want to risk it with my new W810i.

I want to know what exactley flashing does to the phone. also do I even need to flash it if I want to use the flash themes?
I am just very confused on how to do all of this.

ditto to the above, minus the previous mod attempt.

any help is appreciated on my previous posts as well (about changing keypad, debranding, installing drivers, etc)

from what I understand you do need to Flash it to use Flash Themes, but does anyone have a moron proof walkthrough of this and/or debranding, flashing, keypad changing?

The 810 comes with some cool themes,the other themes aren't much different. you could add themes but there are too many ways to mess your cell up that i choose not to take the risk. try searching.

This is a common question and there are plenty of threads about it.

search for w810i flash menus or w810i debrand

but you get a few goodies....
Shortcut key vs that crap internet key
set any mp3 as ring or any sound
pop email built in
Can use flash menus
I think my call quality is better...
Plenty of stuff... Its worth the work. branded phones suck.

you loose push email
you loose IM clients

actually you can get unbranded features without debranding (far + sefp) theres actually a thread about it on this forum. You can keep both im clients and push email and get all the benefits of un branding.

ya DA_G wrote a really food tut a while back, but its so much more work.

But if you use push and IM I guess that would be the way to go.

Its not that much work. Just a few clicks and you are done. I actually prefer it over everything else I've tried because I get to manually select all the files to upload to the phone. And if you want to just change one line your customization file, it's the easiest way to go. Plus you get to keep other little nifty features like the number of voicemails by your voicemail icon on your "desktop". It tells you how many voicemails you have. There's a few other little nifty features, not many though.

some people cant use far.. They see the dos like gui and freak out..
But it does work.

Good point. I never think of stuff like that because i run linux other than one p3 set up to do nothing other than se stuff. all of my pc's boot to runlevel 3.
